Want to know the best SUV on the market today? It has to be the Mazda CX-5.

As soon as you sit in the driver’s seat, you know it’s a great car. The seats are adjustable for any kind of person, meaning any one can sit comfortably in the front.

The back is a different story though. There are only two proper seats, with the third middle seat very small and only suitable for a child. Other than that the car is very comfortable.

As soon as you set off you realise how easy and smoothly it gets off the line. The acceleration is very fast and very smooth (perfect for overtaking on a motorway). The braking is also very nice. The thing that impressed me the most was the car’s tight turning circle.

The 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine is capable of doing 5.7 litres per 100km and the standard equipment Mazda puts in the CX-5 is amazing. Even the cheapest model comes standard with a reversing camera, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring.

Overall this car suits all people, from retires to families of five. Mazda has done a terrific job with the CX-5, it’s definitely the compact SUV to buy.
