2011 Subaru Forester S-Edition Review
Traded in an MY08 WRX in for a MY11 S Edition, we wanted a bigger car with more clearance and can still go hard when asked.
- Power, Space, Ground clearance 225mm, Quiet, Solid
- No manual available , Can be thirsty around town if pushed
After a few camping trips fully loaded, soft off road and some beach driving I can say that the car has been awesome. It has plenty of ground clearance at 225mm and compared to the rex a lot of space. In a straight line it feels quicker than the rex too. Fast cornering and braking however don't match the rex, a thicker rear sway bar and brake pad upgrades have helped close the gap a bit.
The car is very quiet and a great grand tourer with long legs with the 5sp Auto from the STI. A six speed manual would have been my first pick if available but it's not, it does have paddle shift though which gives you some control. Highway consumption is low at around 7-8 L/100, around town it's around 10-11.
Overall a really nice all round capable car with plenty of power, space, comfort and features to keep us happy.
