I researched and drove a number of compact turbo diesel SUVs before deciding on the Ssangyong Korando. My shortlist included the Hyundai ix35/ Kia Sportage twins and Mazda CX5. The price/ performance package won out in the Korando’s favour, along with it’s superior towing capacity.

This vehicle ranks with them for quiet smooth on road performance and has exceptional fuel consumption in real world conditions – 44litres for 640km of city driving.

The road holding and handling are very good and are at least equal to it’s major competitors as are the standard inclusions.

Although the lack of reversing aids being the puzzling exception in an otherwise flawless package.
