Young family? Teenager? Live on a farm? Like going to the beaching style and comfort? The “fully sick subie” as my mates describe it or the 2008 Subaru Forester is the perfect car for any job. It’s an all rounder.

It’s generous space and comfort make this car a breeze to drive in all conditions including the wet as it’s all wheel drive grip keeps the wheels glued to the road surface. Although it’s not the toughest off roader it can pretty much handle most things you throw at it if you turn off the vehicle dynamics control.

Once I nearly got stuck a huge puddle that was up to the door seem and as VDC kicked in it stopped me for accelerating! So one tip for doing more serious off roading turn it off.

I have had the car for 10 months now and I have had an issue with it as the engine came on numerous times due to poor fuel as I live in a rural area so suggestions from mechanics were to run it on premium unleaded which is frustrating but it is only a few dollars extra at the end of the day.

Other then that the car has been excellent. The Forester is by far one of the most comfortable cars I’ve been in and the stereo sounds awesome especially with the AUX input. The 2.5 litre flat four engine has a really good note and has plenty of power to overtake if your in fourth or third gear up about 100 it pulls nicely in fith too.

On twisty roads the Forester has a very generous ride and handling package that makes driving a breeze. I love the manual transmission it’s smooth and slick. Which brings me to my downside why no manual on the 2014 Forester XS I am extremely disappointed in Subaru for doing this as the only reason I purchased this car was because it was a manual and competition are auto so why the change?

This car is so simple to park with the light steering It’s has been very reliable and it’s relatively easy to service yourself if you make sure you have the right oil. The car has done 154000 and still feels and looks like a “brand new car” my mates say as the beautiful juicy blue colour has heaps of depth and shine 6 years on.

I would highly recommend this car to almost anyone wanting a car as it’s fast, has great handling can carry heaps of beach and camping gear and people comfortably the only downside is the fuel economy but it’s a small price to pay for such a great car!
