Excellent variant of the Pug range! The greatest attribute is the rate at which it "sips" the "go juice"!! Purchased before a 10,000km trek around Western Qld, the Pug came out with an average of 5.5km per 100 ... an outstanding result and that was not a matter of "nursing" her along at sedate speeds. There were times when the speedometer moved into (by State road laws) illegal zones when rounding up cattle or ore trains in a totally efficient manner with the turbocharger cutting in to assist the 2-litre oiler stretch out the stride when called upon. The reaction time was minimal and definitely noticeable as everyone was "planted" back into their seats (including those who were dozing) Once the task completed she relaxed back into a sedate 110 kms per hour stroll down the black top .... job done effortlessly.
- Fuel Consumption and Driver Comfort
- Harsh ride when using the Low Profile 17" wheel option
The Pug driving seats added to a totally supportive and extremely comfortable experience also. Leg room and comfort in the rear was totally ample for a large framed guy of 183 cm.
Only negative aspect is that with the low profile tyres the ride is a little bit harsh and also the tyres do not like the corrugation of some country roads so the fitting of standard tyres is recommended. Otherwise ... outstanding vehicle and easy to see why Pug was so successful in the old rally trials around Australia all those years ago, even though they were petrol burners and my experience was in an oiler. Top machine .... !!!
