  • HDI Engine - Fuel Economy and decent performance - Excellent city car, Interior Space, Visibility
  • Low tech

by Robert

The Peugeot 307 1.6 HDI (110 hp) is not a performance car, a good handling car or a tech car. So, what is it then? Well, it’s one of the most brilliant cars for people who just want a car. Why? First of all the engine does not want to eat diesel no matter what you do to it, the torque is more than sufficient for any real life situation, the oil consumption is the same as for the diesel, very low, the overall visibility especially for city driving is excellent and the service costs are moderate (not to mention that during the 6 year ownership as of now I didn’t experienced any mechanical failures – probably it was made when the employees from Peugeot got a raise).

Please do not misunderstand my opinion, this is not a great car, I also own a BMW 3 series which is a great car and a car that you can easily fall in love with (already am), but when you consider city driving, short trips outside the city, bumpy roads, traffic and overall costs the underrated 307 is simply better.

To summarise everything the BMW is like my girlfriend (passion and fun activities 🙂 ) and the Peugeot is like my mom (don’t necessarily enjoy spending time with her, but she’s always right and does everything great for me).

When I bought the 307 I wasn’t really pleased due to the fact that Peugeot doesn’t have now a good reputation in general, but after the years went by I’m pretty sure that it was the best purchase ever made by me.
