2014 Nissan Micra ST review
Owner Review | 10 Aug 2019
I'm an idiot for selling this car. I went on holiday to Adelaide once and had one as a renter and found it a charming little thing to flog around the hills and wineries so when it was time to get a car and I had a tiny driveway entrance to deal with, it was top of the list. I bought it for 6500 at 68000 kms and and sold it at 88000 out of curiosity as to if anyone would want it for 5k 2 years later - turns out they did and I was stupid because a) it seems they went up in value I(they were being advertised for 7+, maybe because there is more demand for newish used cars as no one can get credit for a new car?) and b) after testing an old CLK230 which was in mint nick I realised the Micra was more fun to drive, more comfy and believe it or not felt quicker, probably because manuals tend to over old autos. So I ended up getting an NC MX-5 after doubling my budget. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this car to anyone. It's comfy for my 115kg 6 ft frame, it's practical, it's easy to park, it has a great heater and a/c and it has a bit of character about it. The radio is pretty good. It came with Bluetooth, and an aux port which I didn't expect but where useful hence for a 6.5k car I rated it high for tech. Mine was an ex rental which I had assumed it would be when I got it, and the starter motor died not long after I got it, but that was replaced for 740 bucks, which Nissan paid half even though I didn't ask them to, didn't buy the car from one of their dealerships and the car was 6 months out of warranty, and that was the only issue in 20000kms and 2 years. It wasn't fast but did the job (although pushing the ac button in a high gear going up hill was akin to a drag chute coming out of a landing fighter bomber), the gearshift was a bit clunky, but other than that it was fantastic and I would have one again in a shot.
2008 Nissan Micra CITY Collection: owner review
Owner Review | 4 Aug 2014
The epitomy of a made in Japan city car. Ultra reliable, easy to service, well built and fun to drive. Ride and handling is very good and the turning circle is amazing. Tyre wear has been very good and never really needing a wheel alignment since purchased from new in 2008. You just get the feeling this car will last a long time. It's rare to find too many Japanese cars made in Japan, but this is one of them and the build quality shows in my opinion. The paint quality is excellent and has a deep lustrous finish. The only major issue for me is some cabin rattles that have developed which I have fixed myself (sort of). NVH is poor but I don't expect too much from an urban car at this price point. If you're in the market for a used one of these... don't hesitate. I have taken this out on freeways at 110km/h and whilst the engine is spinning away at high revs, the engine seems like it can do it all day. The 4sp auto can only do so much. You will need to turn up the radio as the noise gets up there. Coarse chip roads add their own harmonics to everything else also. However, if you understand that this car will spend 95% of its days in the burbs and cafes, it's a winner. Servicing this car is a no brainer with plenty of room around to do the basics yourself or find a good local mechanic to do it for you. Mind you Nissan dealers have not been too expensive. Frankly it's only ever needed an oil change and filter. This is the car you own that never interferes with your life. Treat it well and you get the feeling you will keep it for 20 years.

Great car apart from not being able to drive it as fast as i would like. Not practical for carting around lots of people as too small.
