Ford recalls 400,000 Transit vans in North America, Australia unaffected

A total of 402,462 Ford Transit vans have been recalled in North America over concerns the drive shaft coupling could crack - though Australian versions are not affected. 2017 Ford Transits get engine update, and overdue automatic option

Ford Australia is finally rolling out an automatic transmission option on front-wheel drive versions of its Transit and Transit Custom vans, addressing a major impediment to local sales success. The updated Transits also get a new 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine in place of the old 2.2, with more power and torque but lower fuel use emissions, meeting Euro 6 requirements...

Medium van sales are booming right now

The medium-sized van segment grew faster, in percentage terms, than any other part of the new vehicle market in the first half of 2016. According to VFACTS industry data, the Vans/CC 2.5-3.5-tonne segment shot up 21.4 per cent over the same period last year, to 10,480 sales in total (giving it a little under 2 per cent of the overall new vehicle market)...

Ford Transit Custom, Mercedes-Benz Vito vans get five-star ANCAP crash ratings

Crash safety watchdog, the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), has awarded a pair of vans the maximum five-star crash score. However, the scores were date-stamped with previous testing years. The Ford Transit Custom, which comes standard with front and side airbags unlike some rivals, got the five-star score against 2012 ratings criteria — reflecting when it was physically crashed by sister organisation Euro NCAP (which gave it five stars also)...

Ford Transit recalled for faulty fuel injectors

Ford has recalled 138 Ford Transit and Ford Transit Custom vans in Australia over potential fuel injector faults. Some injectors may have a defective valve which, if it fails, could result in a loss of fuel pressure causing the engine to stall.
