Warranty Complaint:

In the last 7 months I’ve had three flat batteries. After getting the Auto club out to jump start, i’ve had the battery tested OK. The battery stills tests OK. The scenario was having the vehicle parked for one night, a full day and a night again, some 36-40 hours in all cases. The car was locked but unlocked and locked a couple of times during this time. So I’m thinking the battery is on it’s way out (although the tests don’t indicate that) and having the vehicle stationary for some time it may have a power leak. It may not be a Warranty claim as it probably could be argued but I now have to be very conscious to run/drive the car every day to ensure the battery gets a charge (it does get

Holden VE Commodore Battery Drain Issue

We have received several complaints from readers, and one of our motoring writers has encountered this particular issue with two press vehicles, so we would like to get a consensus of the severity of this problem.

From the data we have collected, this issue seems to be affecting all VE Commodore models, ranging from run of the mill Omega, right through to the top of the line HSV Grange.

Holden Commodore VE

The problem appears to occur when a vehicle is left for over one day without being driven, started or unlocked. When the vehicle is left in this state, a rogue component in the vehicle drains every last inch of charge from the battery, rendering it useless. The only way to alleviate the issue is to jump-start the car and depending on the model being examined, varied wait times are required to start the vehicle again due to additional components operating.

We have had reported claims relating to the following models - Omega, SS-V, Grange and Calais V.

HSV Grange

If your VE Commodore is having a similar issue, we would appreciate if you could contact CarAdvice via the Warranty Complaints page with some details about your problem and how long your car is left alone before it drains the battery. One extreme case saw a vehicle’s battery drained after a 1-hour stint of radio operation, so results seem to vary between models.

From the affected users we have heard from so far, many have detailed the lack of retort from Holden. Those that have contacted their service departments have received below-par responses.

We appreciate your input and will hopefully be able to gauge the spread of this problem in due course. We will keep you posted with the results.

Hi there

Just a few problems for you guys to ponder on

  • Diff replaced
  • Auto gearbox, very rough changes
  • Engine has numerous strange noises
  • Serious vibrations through cars driveline
  • Front bushes have been replaced at least once we know of
  • Brake pads replaced, rotors machined twice, squealing brakes, excessive brake dust
  • Power steering hoses upgraded - still groans when steering
  • Endless electrical faults - head lights have stayed on numerous times, immobiliser, etc
  • Car has 37,000 kl/m

Original owner was Holden and serviced by Experimental Engineering Garage in Melbourne, purchased from auction by a dealer in Perth, we purchased with 13000 kl/m on it
We are currently shopping around for a dealer that will actually look after our vehicles, and us, after repeatedly ignored and treated like we know stuff all about our cars, we over react apperantly

HSV apparently dont care as we have sent several emails in regards to the car with no response at all

Regards Paul

Warranty Complaint:
Took car into dealership whilst under warranty with jerky forward and reverse gear selection (Auto Trans). Was told within Ford specifications, no problem.

11 months later, problem got worse and transmission fluid was found in expansion tank. Took car back and dealer advised me to ring Customer Response centre who told me car is not covered by warranty but they will pay for a new radiator. I fought tooth and nail and got CRC to pay 50% of repair. Dealer refused to help with the rest. It cost me $1700.

Warranty Complaints

Do you have a warranty complaint regarding your vehicle?

We are here to help. In most cases all we can do is provide you a medium to tell other Australians your story. This will give you the opportunity to express your concern regarding the issues with your vehicle.

It may even give you the opportunity to hear from others who have experienced similar problems with the same make/model car.

Furthermore, in some cases, once complaints are published online, manufacturers are quick to act to rectify the problem. Either way, you have nothing to lose!

Manufacturers are afraid that once common faults for a specific model become public, more and more owners will come back demanding repairs.

This is a nightmare for manufacturers, but a big boost for individual owners struggling to have repairs covered under warranty.

If you are unfairly refused warranty work, let us know!

2005 Jeep Cherokee Renegade Warranty Complaint

When we first started the Warranty Complaints section, we thought it would be a great idea to list as many warranty complaints as we get sent, to give buyers warnings and some idea of the problems experienced with different makes and models as well as dealers, but so far, we’ve had well over 100 complaints… with the majority regarding Jeeps!

Most users don’t want the information posted (as it may affect their warranty proceedings), however there are a few brave souls who have had enough. One of them is who is letting the world know is Gilda C. from Glendenning NSW.

Her story follows:

In March 2005, we purchased a Jeep Cherokee Renegade. We went through our first service on the 26/10/2005 and I paid $370.00.Unfortunately we did not test drive the car believing that it is a good and reliable car with a good reputation given its status as a Jeep Cherokee.

2005 Jeep Cherokee Renegade Warranty Complaint

One day when I reached work I noticed a set of red words and numbers on the dashboard of the car saying type 42, I rang the service department at the Jeep dealer and they came and they found out that the tyre is flat, and I asked what this means and he said that it will just go away it is nothing.

Then the first recall come, E14 recall that was on 13/01/2006.

24,000KM service date 30/06/2006

Not even a month there is another problem, july 2006 we are hearing noises when braking so we call the service department again and tell them what we notice on the car and they told as to bring the car in. So we went and they check the car and we were told to come back when the parts arrive.

Couple of weeks later they ring us saying that the parts have just arrive so we had an arrangement what day and time to go to the service, they even sent us a message about the appointment, so we went but we were told that the parts are not available. I was so upset but I had no choice but to wait again.

I told them that every time we had an appointment with them we have to take a day off work .They said it is just a miscommunication.

So they called us again and said that the parts are available but the exact same thing happened again, there were no parts and this time I was really upset and told them why they keep on calling us to come here when there are no parts available, that time I asked for the manager and asked him for an explanation, he said the same thing, miscommunication.

Finally parts arrive 18/09/2006,they change the pads, rear disc -KJ and CLIP ANTI RATTL.

two weeks later they call us again for another racall it is about the lower ball joint to be replace, 02/10/2006.

January this year (2007) another problem came out and now it is the brake, every time you brake in 80KM/H the steering wheel is shaking so we call again.

date 25/01/2007 another recall for the brakes.
Im now scared of the car as it has had so many recalls, a brand new car, a JEEP with the reputation of a good car and the people in the dealership are so rude to us, I just cant beilived this is happening to us.

thank you for reading my letter and we just hope for your help to rectify this problem.
Kind Regards,

GILDA C.

The continues reports of Jeep problems have given all of us a big grave warning to stay as far away from Jeep as possible.

For those of you who read the site regularly, you should note the recent Reliability Survey conducted in the UK which found Jeep as the WORSE VEHICLE brand in terms of reliability with 46% of all buyers having to go back for warranty complaints!

Warranty Complaints? Tell us about it

Here is what we need to know, lots of warranty complains are going unheard, dealers will tell you the same thing “Never seen this problem before” even if they have seen it 100x in the same model car, so through community and reader support, our aim is to catalouge a list of new car problems and warranty complaints for all vehicles sold in Australia.

Why should you tell the world about your new car problems? Its simple, the more the words gets out that a certain model car has a specific problem, the sooner the manufacturer is willing to admit that its a common problem and hence issue a recall or a fix.

The system can work anonymously if need be. So help us, help you, tell us whats wrong with your new car, click here
