UK withdraws criminal investigation over MG, Rover collapse

As we reported back in early July, British police were investigating the collapse of UK manufacturer MG Rover Group through their Serious Fraud Office.
However, following consultation with legal advisors, the office has decided that there are no grounds on which to initiate a criminal investigation over the sale and collapse of the group.

It has emerged that the former owners of collapsed manufacturer MG-Rover have rounded on the UK Government over apparently refusing financial aid to save the company.

Speculation in Britain that the Serious Fraud Office is to investigate a case surrounding the collapse of MG Rover in 2005 has been confirmed today with a British Government enquiry recommending a criminal investigation.
Business Secretary Lord Mandelson will call in the SFO following completion of the enquiry.
