The rear has also undergone minor changes for a more aggressive look. The interior has received the biggest change with a new three-spoke sports steering wheel with multifunction controls, as well as a new instrument cluster.

The car now also comes with the NTG 2.5 generation of audio and telematics componentry. This system integrates all audio systems with a built-in hands-free facility with Bluetooth technology.

There is also a new media interface in the glove compartment for iPod lovers.

There are four engines in the new SLK range:

• 2.0-litre four-cylinder - 135 kW, 250 Nm, 7.7 l/100 km. CO2 emissions 182 g/km.
• 3.0-litre V6 - 170 kW, 300Nm
• 3.5-litre V6 - 224 kW, 360 Nm 9.5 l/100km
• 5.5-litre V8 265 kW - 510 Nm.

The SLK range all come with a precision six-speed manual gearshift as standard while the SLK 55 AMG keeps its 7G-TRONIC Sport seven-speed automatic transmission. The SLK 200 can be optioned with a five-speed automatic and the SLK 280 and SLK 350 are available with the AMG spec gearbox for a little bit more.

Although the fancy and expensive interior will not see the light of day in a production vehicle, the car’s exterior design has a good chance of making the cut.

“It’s as realistic as any,” says Peter Horbury, Ford’s North American design director.

Although Ford executives are tight-lipped about a production version, Ford had already announced back in early 2007 that it would build a seven-passenger Lincoln crossover.

The MKT is based on the 2009 Ford Flex crossover and could go into production in 2009.

The MKT concept would be a great competitor to the recently released Mazda CX-9. The car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine using Ford’s new EcoBoost technology. It produces 309kW and 542 Nm of torque

The car uses a standard four-cylinder engine attacked to a lithium ion battery pack. The Karma is the sort of car you can take out all day, then bring it home to charge.

It will simply plug into an ordinary household outlet and take roughly six hours to recharge on a 220-volt system. The best thing about the car is its ability to run for 80km on electricity alone, Henrik said. U.S. prices for the Karma are expected to start at around $80,000.

Additionally the Karma utilises a solar panel on its roof to help recharge the battery.

Looking at the car you would have probably expected a lot of power and noise, and although power is still unconfirmed (we can’t imagine it will be too much) the noise is taken care of by a special tune.

According to Fisker, when the Karma is running on petrol, it will produce a sound “somewhere between a Formula One car and a jet plane,“.

GM are very tightlipped about the car’s credentials, only saying that it will Produce at least 100 horsepower per litre - 620hp - 462kW.

It will also managed 805Nm of torque. This is no joke, the ZR1 is expected to go from 0-100km/h in mid to low 3s making it one of the fastest cars on the planet.

The limited-production LS9 engine will be built by hand in GM’ engine facility in Wixom, Michigan. The car is only available with a six-speed manual transmission, as no automatic could take this much torque!

The supercharged ZR1 will become the first supercharged production Corvette in history.

“If we’re going to compete with the BMW 3 series and the Mercedes’ C class, we obviously need more than one body style,” said Bob Lutz, GM’s vice chairman of global product development. ” Up until now, we’ve competed with one, and that just won’t do it.“

Bob Lutz, the outspoken critic of the recent emission laws was asked if Cadillac was heading in the wrong direction with its supercharged V8 engines, Lutz said:

“At the height of the vegetarian phase, grocery stores still featured steak. We are a full-service grocery.”
