Honda CR-V Special Edition arrives

The CarAdvice team have road tested Honda’s popular CR-V a couple of times now, both on its lonesome as well as against its rivals, and as a whole, we have been rather impressed by the vehicle’s overall drive, dynamics and appeal.

To further this appeal, Honda have today announced a Special Edition CR-V to better the value offered on what’s already a very well packaged car by some $3,000.

Honda Civic Type-R enters ARC

Honda Australia has entered the final round of the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) for 2008, the Coffs Coast Rally, with a view to competing in the full ARC calendar next season.

To be held on November 14 - 16, the event will see British Rally Champion Guy Wilks drive for Honda, with Phil Pugh as co-driver in the JAS Motorsport built Group R Civic Type R. Once again, Mugen and JAS will assist Honda in the final ARC round.

It seems regardless of their performance capability, many manufacturers are keen on showing off their latest prototypes at the Nurburgring - as Honda has done here with a crossover destined for the Acura brand.

Established as a direct competitor to the BMW X6 in the US, little is known about the unnamed crossover at this point, with Honda obviously keen to keep it under wraps for now.

For those of us that don’t follow Indy that closely, you can be forgiven for not realising that Honda had already introduced Ethanol-fuelled V8 indy cars in the USA at the beginning of the 2007 season, but now, they are coming to Australia.

Furthermore, it won’t just be one or two cars, the entire grid will be powered by ethanol-powered V8 engines when the cars rev up it at this weekend’s Nikon Indy 300 on the Gold Coast.

While this model is destined for the Japanese market, the local version is expected to be relatively identical, seemingly borrowing many of its design features from the FCX Clarity.

Honda’s new pedestrian crash test dummy

Honda will enhance safety testing procedures on all new models with the use of its new third generation pedestrian dummy, POLAR III, in vehicle-to-pedestrian crash tests before the end of this year.

The aim of the program, as you may well have figured, is to reduce pedestrian injuries, especially those to the lower back and upper legs, common in collisions between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Honda boasts NSX will outperform GT-R

With Porsche and Nissan at each other’s throats over the Nurburgring lap times, Executive Vice President of Honda Koichi Kondo has casually mentioned in a recent interview that the upcoming NSX replacement will have better performance than the GT-R.

 

Due to make its worldwide debut as a 2011 model, it has been officially confirmed that the new NSX will feature a high-revving naturally aspirated V10 engine.

In a word, the Honda Jazz is ‘easy’.  It is easy to drive, easy to look at and easy to live with.  In the small car stakes, Jazz has come out a winner with its design, economy and all-round accessibility making it the perfect runabout for the work commute while being equally suited to a family weekend away.
