As hot hatches go, the Clio RS197 is best described as an entree serving of Thai Green Curry. It’s smaller, and still has a bit of kick to it, but it’s not so hot that you end up with blurred vision and the, err, sweats the next day.

As Australians, we’re proud to claim the utility as our own, just look at the population attending the Deni Ute Muster each year. It’s a vehicle firmly ingrained in our culture, and as it was Ford who first provided us with a coupé-utility that could “take the pigs to market Saturday and the Missus to church on Sunday”, - an analogy where you certainly don’t want to mince your words - what better ute to review than this one.

- Review by Karl Peskett - Photography by Tom Jakovljevic

It’s 5:30pm on a Friday afternoon and I get a call on my mobile.

“Hey Karl, what are you up to?”

“Oh, anything and everything,” was my reply.

“It’s Friday afternoon, mate, you can’t pull that one on me.” Steve Jones is a perceptive young man.

“I was just talking about life in general mate. It’s been pretty busy, lately”, I said. Little did I know, it was about to get even busier.

“Aren’t we all”, said Jones. Continuing with barely a pause for thought, he lets go of the big one. “So, I hear you’d like to drive a GT-R.”

Whilst my colleagues were out in the Snowy Mountains enjoying the spoils of the first Australian steer in Aston Martin’s stunning new Vantage Coupe last fortnight, I was contented to sit in the office a little longer waiting patiently for my first steer in the exquisite 09MY 4.7-litre V8 Vantage Roadster. Let me tell you, it was well worth the wait.

When you go to the breeder to pick out a new puppy you’re told to go for the one who’s most lively, the one that stands out as being more interesting than the others or is simply the first to bound up and lick your face. Similarly from the moment I first saw the G6E Turbo at Ford’s FG Falcon unveiling I knew this was the pick of the litter and for me at least, was the one to take home.

Jaguar needed to pull a rabbit out of the hat with its replacement for the retro-styled S-Type or things would look rather shaky about now.

People movers are an interesting type of car to test. Mainly because you get stares whenever you drive past. They’re not stares of wonderment and jealousy - no, those come with Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, or Bugattis.

2009 Isuzu D-MAX - First Steer

A third of the way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast exists a place called Sirromet Winery, one of QLD’s better known producers of fine wine, and a careful play on words of the name of the owner, one T. E. Morris!

What an excellent location to launch a new brand and model into the Australian market.
