2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Race Car

Cadillac has announced it has been testing an upcoming new race car based on the Cadillac CTS-V. Called the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Race Car, it's possibly the sharpest, most aggressive-looking American race car we've seen in a while.

Featuring a completely stripped out interior, engine bay and chassis, the CTS-V Coupe race car has been designed to enter into the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT Series of 2011. Its debut race is in just a couple of months, which will take place at St Petersburg for the opening round of the series.

Official specifications and engine details are yet to be released, but according to the American GT Series specification restrictions, the car would be capped off at a certain engine output depending on a number of other circumstances, such as overall weight and downforce ratings. Power levels range from 317kW to 392kW.

The project was put together by both General Motors and Pratt and Miller, with a goal to create a race car that didn't venture too far away from the original design of the car, but at the same time produce a car that was competitive and adhered to race regulations.
