I got approx. 1500 off the rrp as i bargained against a lease purchase deal thru' work... and subi insurance was waaayyy cheaper than many others... check out what it covers re. genuine replacement parts etc... i've now had mine for 2 months - loosening it up with some nice cornering... it's an awesome car... maybe coz i've come out of a MY03 wrx.. but i'm fine with the ineterior... can't see what everyone's fussing about... can even put a bottle of wine in the door... they worked it so the door handle lets the neck of the bottle fit.. cool... only negative is the view out the rear - less visibility than the old wrx.. and mine being dark grey gets crap all over the back even in the dry... brake dust!

Vu - I have paid for and awaiting my sti it was just under 66k on the road & to answer your question no they wont budge on price whatsoever, Im usually someone who bargins pretty hard and they wont. All they will do is throw in tinting and floor mates but no reduction in price, subbie have never really been big on discounts (especially with STIs) which adds to their redbook value for resale. You will see 1-2k here or there once he evo is selling but I wouldnt bank on too much more.

PS, and for those that are wondering, for all the bad press about the looks, it drives like a farking dream, yes the interiors are not aligned with a 70k car, but if thats what your looking for go for a slower, less grippy R32 and you can enjoy the view of my rear end speeding away in your plush leather seats and brushed metal interior, but hey you'll be in comfort!

Andrew, glad you enjoyed your new car. With the prices you paid, did you bargain with the dealer at all??? Just wanted to know what sort of prices I should be offering the dealer and whether it'd be any use in negotiating prices with them.

Andrew,

Congrats on the new car mate. No - this isn't going to be an R32 vs STI crappy comment - over all that crap.

Nice ride - did a quick calculation of how much comprehensive insurance would be for me. I'm 30, live inner city melbourne with a flawless driving history and they want 2800 per annum.

Jesus!

My premium for the R32 is 1200 bucks which is a relative bargain in comparison.....

What are you being charged for insurance? When I used to have my subies they used to provide me with a 1000 dollar rebate. Is that deal still on?

Gee Subaru get raped by the insurance companies....Even an S3 is only 1700 per annum in comparison....

Guys,

Paid $71,115 on the road for my STI Spec R. Test drove and bought it wednesday and drove it home the following day yesterday. Also got free window tinting and lock nuts, I think courtesy of the person who put a deposit down but had their finance fall through. Didn't realise there were STI mats on offer though.

Car is awesome and worth every cent. 100 times better than my VY SS Commodore and other fast cars I have driven including the Golf R32, Evo 9, S15 200SX, MY02 WRX, and R33 GTR.

Got thoroughly looked after by SVM Subaru in Lindfield, including great trade-in and good deal on finance and insurance. Would highly recommend them to anyone. Talk to Paul Cester.

thx for the intel FH. You make some valid points. what I'm banking on is the immediacy of a sale today ... especially persuasive at eom when dealers are driving quotas. realise the sti is not a volume seller ... but you never know ... sometimes a dealer just wants your business. with the AUD being what it is, I suspect that suby will still make coin on my offer .... meaning incremental margin that they would lose if I went elsewhere. Only downside is that they would really make me wait for by car - until the sticker-price payers take delivery of their STIs.

Slammer. Good luck mate. My guess would be that after you have made your offer and walk out the door, they will be laughing their arses off and you will not be driving an STi. I suspect Suby will hold tight to their prices for at least for the next few months and at the very least until the Evos are released. This is company policy. You could be lucky with a demonstrator although I suspect these will not be available for a while yet. Currently they have STi orders right thru to April, so you will waiting a wee while to get hold of it.

I will certainly let you all know what price I finally manage to get it for but I am not holding my breath for a massive discount. They are currently offering 'STi floor mats' included in the price. Whoopee! :-)

are the bbs wheels available as an option on the standard STI? Also, I can't seem to find a price on the 08 sti lowering kit (around $800 again?)
