Well, I’ll point out the obvious and say that isn’t a fair comparison. The 1.9L Golf engine is old tech. So it’s not only approximately 100cc smaller, it’s ancient technology in camparison to the 2.0L Golf engine.

i agree that 305Nm compared to the 250Nm from the 1.9 TDi Vw is quite good, the point i was making is that some VW fans (of which i am not one) always want to point out the torque from the new 2.0 TDi in the Golf (340Nm approx)

Pricing is a bit steep when compared to Japan offerings. Not sure how this is meant to get the brand off and running? I would expect the Impreza 2.0 diesel will be $29,000 in basic trim – I know which I’d bank my resale on!

The VW 1.9TDI only has 250Nm, so why is 305Nm a poor effort?

Fiat would sell a stack more cars if their pricing was a little more reasonable. Volkswagen and Peugeot represent better value for money.

Sure it the ritmo looks ok, but like the other fiat here the pricing is, shall we say, ambitious.

BTW it alleged that FIAT make the best small cars on the planet.No idea with big cars though! :-)
