plus options, $3,925 [bluetooth, cruise, iPod cable, metallic paint, Auto].
subtotal, $30,905
plus charges, $1,649 [registration, CTP, stamp duty]
subtotal, $32,554

just bought a c4 after 3 to 4 months investigation of auto diesel offerings with max 'safety' offerings. Looked at peugeot, Golf, i30 [love what nrma etc said about it], renault megane and C4. live in sydney and do 22 kms minimum pa with mixture of country and suburban trips. will not buy manual. i was surprised to find that i30 with auto plus protectz etc is almost same price on road as C4. test drove megane yesterday around suburbs in heavy traffic; very ordinary. terrible whine on magnetic fan in heat after 15 minutes plus lots of hesitation at low speeds. engine hesitated at low vehicle speed to point that i thought it had stalled several times. test drove C4 today in rain and heavy traffic; takes roundabouts, speed humps and potholed and lumpy roads with ease and little fuss; less bump and bang than our present car. C4 was much more confident in test drive of over 50kms than megane. i30 auto diesel not available for test drive and dealer not sure when plus car to safety [protectz] specs i want is a factory order taking maybe another 8 to 10 weeks. so, looks great on paper and test drive of manual great but auto? dream on. who knows when.

I for one think the french cars have some of the best styling on the market, typically french, chic, bold and not inconspicuous. Pity the 2.0 litre performance is a bit slack, 2 litre Audis bang to 100 in 9.4's at roughly the same Kw rating.

The i30 will have an auto by the end of the year.

So the base model oil burner with auto will be approx $23,500 and the slx approx $27,900.

A lot of people will go for the i30.

Yeah the i30 is great value, but remember its manual tranny, not a auto.

Also the i30 does not have all the features of the C4

Cheers

Anthony, yes the i30 is a very good value packsge, but it does lack a few things... class, style & street cred. Yes i know Citroen is known for its umm unusual or quirky deigns but it's interesting design sets it appart from all the asian and american appliances that are sold in such huge numbers.

The i30 is the car for an accountant. Cars like the C4 are for people who love cars. Its not my choice but its no i30.

The C4 looks good. No Question. But compare it to Hyundai's i30 diesel at just over $21K and you would have to go with the Hyundai from a practical and economic POV
