New Hyundai i30 Spy Photos

By Alborz Fallah |

Update: Some sources suggest this may be a KIA, to be confirmed.

With sister company Kia designing one beautiful car after another, Hyundai is now in the process of revising its successful lineup. Starting with the ever so popular Hyundai i30.

Although it’s impossible for us to officially confirm these photos as being of the new i30, given its size we suspect that it’s the model’s replacement. Or another vehicle that will compete in the same segment.

From the outside it measures very similarly to the current i30. We believe this is an early prototype undergoing testing. As you can see, it’s sporting LED day-driving lights similar to the ones seen on spy photos of the i40 CW. From the back it’s a similar story as we can see new lights with LEDs.

It’s hard to work out the final shape from these photos. Nonetheless you can be assured that it will be a looker as Hyundai continues its plans for world domination. Little is known about engine and drivetrain configuration, although we suspect it will be an improved version of what is currently on offer. Perhaps a hybrid or electric variant will also surface for this model.

The Hyundai i30 came to Australia in 2007 so if it’s to have a five-year product life, the new one should be out by the end of 2012. Hyundai Australia sold 29,772 i30s in 2010.

there was a a car advice article a few days ago about eastern european hyaundais which showed an i30 with similar front styling to an ix35.

maybe that is what we will get.

I’ve seen another website that has used the same photos claiming they are the new Kia, so now I am really confused!!

    • Sumpguard

I think it’s the new RIO.

  • Technofreak

Guaranteed to look 30% more like the Mazda 3.

Get your own designs Hyundai! pfft!

I reckon its a kia, note how the front window line swoops down similar to the cerato. The grill on the other hand looks like the one from the veloster.

Definitely not the Kia. If you have seen the new Cerato Hatch/Sportage you might have noticed the shape of the windscreen (top of) is the same as the bottom half of the grill. It’s a design language that will eventually carry throughout the range.

Already looks like the new Astra, which isnt really a bad thing.

What are the wagons seen in the background in one of the pics?

    • Martin

      Kia Cee’d SW’s

Hyundai has a lot to catch up on design wise. I’ve just come back from Korea, and the Kias over there are absolutely beautiful..esp the K5 and K7 (which the K5 i believe is our new Optima?)

I just hope this new i30 will be a step up on the current car.

This is the new Kia Rio, not a Hyundai

definatly a kia look at the headlights and tail lights, they shout kia.

CA, any news on whether the optima has officially gone on sale in Oz yet? I saw one patrolling the streets around Parramatta yesterday, and im looking into it for a family friend.

  • Martin

Pretty sure it’s a Hyundai. The next Rio’s shoulder line continues to slope down as it meets the bonnet and A pillar, this get’s to the bonnet and slopes up again.
