BMW M5 Hurricane GS by G-Power world’s fastest LPG car

Taxis aren't generally the first thing you think of when speaking about performance, speed or power, especially as they run on that renowned 'power-sapper' known as LPG. Fairly recent advances in LPG technology however have caught the attention of some tuning specialists. Meet the BMW M5 Hurricane GS, aka, the fastest LPG-powered car in the world, by G-Power.

BMW's E60 M5 is no slouch in standard trim. With it's 373kW, 5.0-litre V10 churning out a truly tremendous raspy howl at the touch of a pedal, G-Power (German tuning company) saw this as the best platform to produce the fastest LPG-powered car. G-Power began by fitting its traditional twin-supercharging package, then adapted a sequential LPG system for both banks of the V10 engine.

The overall result is an astonishing 492kW of power and 650Nm of torque. Translated onto the tarmac, supposedly in one big handful of wheelspin, the M5 Hurricane GS is able to rocket off from standstill to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. Once 11.4 seconds has lapsed with the throttle still mashed, the Hurricane is going 200km/h, and keeps going to a top speed of 333km/h, or, fast enough to develop its own little hurricane.

This officially makes it, according to claims, the fastest LPG-powered car in the world. But why? Well, LPG is not only considerably less expensive at the pumps, it's also around 15 percent more environmentally friendly than the regular petrol counterpart.
