    People look up Hyundai i10 on google, it sorta looks like the last gen Mazda 2 and it is said to be powered by a 1.1L engine.

    I think evenutally Hyundai’s plan is to have the i20 (Getz), i40 (Sonata) and i50 (Grandeur)

    You’ve only got to look at how much tastier-looking (and better to drive) the Sonata is compared to the Camry. And the i30 to the Corolla. And the Santa Fe diesel to the RAV4 (hang on, the RAV4 doesn’t even have a diesel). ‘Nuff said.

    Myke – i think your right mate, i think the eventual goal is:

    i10 = Getz
    i20 = Tuscon
    i30 = elantra
    i40 = Sonata
    i50 = Santa Fe
    iMax = Trajet
    iLoad = commercial van

    I dont think they will run another granduer now that they are going to push the new genesis brand, the granduer replacement will probably become the entry model for the genesis brand

    If thats what hyundai are doing i think its a good move, portrays the brand in a slightly different light and allows them to call all of their new upcoming models “all new” as opposed to replacements

    forgot about the tiburon, i think that will become a genesis model aswell, certainly in the US anyway where the genesis brand is originally intended, australia may not get the genesis brand straight away in which case we would still get the new tiburon as a hyundai for the time being, same as how the integra is sold as a honda in australia even though the integra is actually a model designed for honda’s premium brand acura

    Yep. Even the badge is similiar. The Koreans are copying the Japs and they will succeed. Longest warranty, constant quality messages in advertising, Hyundai is out toyotaing toyota.

    Good to see Hyundai mixing it up. Ultimately the consumer is the winner. May prompt Toyota to plough some of it’s ill gotten gains back into developing some more inspirational models. Nobody else seems to have the focus to take on Toyota.

    Perhaps if their warranty costs were a bit less then they might make a little more than $252.00 profit per vehicle.

    okay… congrats to Hyundai.

    But SEEING some extremely biased posts here.. is just.. well.. shocking..

    I know the internet is a good source of information and free speech.. but this is ridiculous..

    I might as well proclaim myself the greatest man on earth… why?… because of free speech… and the net.

    Someone proclaiming Hyundai, the next Toyota….
    Making statements like Sonata > Camry.. etc..

    Okay, this is getting out of hand.. obviously some people here drive Hyundais…

    Toyota can stop producing/manufacturing cars for the next 10 years… and they’ll still be significantly ahead of Hyundai…. significantly.

    Toyota the next GM??

    How???

    because Toyota has expanded? and has become No.1?

    [1] Toyota’s manufacturing process is much more efficient than GM. And often emulated, TPS… look it up.

    [2] Quality wise… its not even a debate.. Toyota has slipped.. but thats expected. When your on top.. you can only go down.
    And the sudden growth is a factor… I want to explain it but its confidential matters. But some other educated people out there with knowledge of business administration/management can understand how this is a common phenomenon when a company expands quicker than it can manage… knowing Toyota… they are working on them right now.

    [3] Again congratulations to Hyundai, I got to see their Genesis vehicle recently and looking nice.

    Jamison,

    I don’t drive a Hyundai, so whoever’s guilty, please own up.
    In fact Hyundai isn’t in my consideration set for the same reason that Toyota isn’t. ie. boring to drive. But that obviously doesn’t matter to the majority of the car (appliance) buying public.

    last week I spent 3 days researching small cars from toyota, hyundai, kia, mazada, nissan and holden to purchase for my partner. after having a test drive and info on all the above small cars, I found yaris to have the better build quality, lower service cost, cheaper to insure and repair and easy maintence plus the interior is well thought out. also reliability cant be questioned. All the other manufacturers still have a long way to go before they can come up to the current toyota standards and by the time they do, toyota will move far ahead. As for fast cars, move to Lexus people.. toyota quality plus euro styling….

    Yes, the Yaris does sell well here in the UK also but (there’s always a but) I was going to buy one for my wife until I talked to the service guys and discovered they had 8 in for cylinder head problems – aparently it is a known fault with the engine.

    TOYOTA TOSSERS will flog this one and make excuses that its a one off and other BS. Cars all have problems, but Toyota is not at the head of the pack as people believe and it is a lotg further back then the recent Toyota engine troubles on Yaris…you dont say! Like it is common knowledge in the streets here that irrespective of how statistics are cooked up and not completely across the board with every car owner, that even Toyota has its share of dramas yet hide it well! Its a shame that there is no complete way to measure car reliability and feedback on customer satifaction!

    ….lot further back then the recent JD Powers survey results = like they only interviewed a paltry 300 Ford owners in the past 36 months when Ford Australia conduct there survey of some 4,000 for the last 12months. So its not a complete or accurate industry snapshot in reality!

    2. Kia/Hyundai (same owners) sold 6.9million cars for 2007
