Calling entrants for the 32nd Winton Historic

January 25, 2008 by Matt Brogan

Australia’s largest and most popular all-historic motor race meeting, the Winton Historic, will kick off its 32nd annual event this year on the May 24-25 weekend at Winton Motor Raceway, Winton, Victoria.

Presenting two action-packed days of non-stop racing and featuring over 400 historic racing cars and motorcycles from the 1920s through to the 1980s, the Winton Historic caters for all historic vehicles and bikes.

One of the continuing highlights of Historic Winton is the Shannon’s Classic Vehicle Display with hundreds of interesting old vehicles (and their owners) on show.  This display has become a major diversion from the on-track activities with some of the world’s most desirable vehicles on display.

It doesn’t matter what you drive, it is an open invitation event. Numbers are capped, so entrants will need to be quick to secure a spot in what is one of the most popular events of its kind in the country.

Spectator entry fees are $20 for Saturday and $30 for Sunday. Children 14 and under are free. For more information or entrant details please contact Historic Winton through the web link.

I raced in group N at this event a few years back, and it’s great fun. Semi-serious (the car stays straight) and you pick up a lot of tips from other competitors.

If you’ve got a classic car, a CAMS license and some interest in using your car as it was intended, then I’d definately recommend it to anyone.

can anybody lend me a race car?
