2012 Volkswagen New Midsized Sedan teaser released

Volkswagen is keeping tight wraps over the upcoming Volkswagen New Midsized Sedan it plans to unveil at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. It's unknown at this stage what the car will be called but it is said to be slightly bigger than the current Volkswagen Passat.

Details of the car are scarce, but rumours and reports say the new sedan will differ from the Passat and provide more interior room. It'll supposedly offer a smoother exterior design too, similar to that of the Volkswagen Jetta XL.

The main consumer-related temptation this car will hold though is the price. It will be made in the US, Tennessee, which means price tags are expected to hover around the $20,000 mark, making it quite the bargain, and considerably cheaper than the current Passat (around $7000 cheaper). This could be a great proposition for the American market, especially for a car that is 'German-engineered'.

Look out for more reports from CarAdvice next week upon the car's official unveiling.
