We don’t get many American muscle cars here in Australia, infact we hardly get any. It seems like we are the ones sending our HSV range to the states and in return we get big trucks and SUVs. Nevertheless, nothing wrong with dreaming! When I say American supercar, most people instantly think of a Corvette.

Yes, it looks like a Ferrari and hell this one here, supposedly powered by a 6.2 Litre Supercharged V8 even goes like a Ferrari (0-100 in ~ 3.5 seconds).

The guys at winding road managed to get their hands on these photos, and photographer reports that the sound this engine was making could only come from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8.

The “SS” branding of the Corvette is an interesting naming scheme as many Holden fans would agree. I am not actually sure if Holden was first to start with the SS range or if the Americans had been doing it before hand?

Either way, the Corvette SS or the Z07 Corvette, is expected to go on sale for around $130,000 AUD. The engine will be built at GM’s Performance Center in Wixom, Michigan, USA and expected annual numbers are around 2000. The vehicle is set to go on sale in mid 2008 (as an 09 model). From all of the car lovers in Australia, we would love to see this car down under.
