Video: Suzuki Kizashi versus cars and other weird things

By Karl Peskett |

Suzuki’s American arm has launched a new campaign to kickstart Kizashi sales in the US, with this new series of commercials, each highlighting the Kizashi’s superior quietness, handling and braking versus what it sees as its decidedly upmarket rivals…and a few other oddball choices.

We don’t see an acceleration test in there, but watching a limousine mow down an entire field of cones is quite humerous. What do you think – would the people be cross-shopping the Kizashi against the cars shown in the adverts?

I like it. Clever Advertising. I think to prove safety against the Volvo they should smash both against a wall at 60k per hour. I know which I would rather be in and it would not be the Suzuki. Oh! am I allowed to say that CA without the comment being moderated out of existence? You have been moderating a hell of a lot lately.

  • Newyear

These don’t prove a damn thing coz it’s not independent at all. Those who take this seriously must also believe Santa Claus.

    • Sumpguard

It’s not meant to be taken seriously. I think you miss the point.

    • Charles

      Or God! lol

      • qwert

Yes its so much easier to believe we came from common ancestors shared with monkeys.
I think its you that is a true believer (or nutter)!
        Where are those missing links!?!?
We can find billions of years old dinosaur bones but not one credible missing link from our supposed ancestors!

Seriously dude, stick to car blogs.

        • Thomas

Yeah, I hate it when science gets in the way of religion too…

ANYWAY, I have to agree with Newyear – as entertaining as the ads are, I suspect some of the outcomes were a twisted to suit the Suzuki.

  • talk then think

If you look closely in the last clip, the a4 is 1db louder then the kizashi at full throttle. Stupid test of quiteness.

    • Vince

That’s still twice as loud as the A4.

  • Shak

Its nice to see that Car companies still have a sense of humour, But its sad to think that our nanny state will probably end up banning some of them because of some stupid complaint about how they promote speed or some other nonsense. Good Job Suzuki!

  • Car Fanatic

Incorrect Vince. If you are talking loudness, ten decibels is double. Sound intensity on the decibel scale is completely different though, but you did say loud.

So one decibel increase is not twice as loud.

    • Jason

      3 db is double.

      • Hugh Jorgan

Yes and 1db as a power ratio is 1.259

      • Who Knew

Correct. 3dB is double the sound pressure.

    • Klipsch

I’ll have to side with Car Fanatic on this. Back when I was into audio systems I do recall reading every 10db = double the loudness.

      Anyways, great commercials… quite lol

My faith in bubble wrap has just been shattered.
