Mercedes-Benz boasts best sales year ever

January 18, 2008 by George Skentzos

Combined sales of Mercedes-Benz and its subsidiaries AMG, Maybach, and smart brands has resulted in the best sales record in the company’s history.

Mercedes-Benz boasts best sales year ever

Overall, sales were up two percent in 2007, totaling 1,285,900 passenger vehicles, 1,185,300 of which coming from the Mercedes brand itself.

The smart brand sold 100,600 vehicles in total, most of which came from sales of the fortwo which experienced success in both Germany and Italy with 31,000 and 30,600 vehicles delivered in each market respectively.

This figure actually represents a 10.3 per cent decline in sales for smart compared to 2006, although Mercedes credits this to the discontinuation of the model lines smart roadster and smart forfour.

Maybach managed to shift about 400 vehicles worldwide – none of which made their way to Australia. Mercedes seems hazy on the exact number of Maybachs sold, but  maintains the brand’s sales equaled the total for the previous year.
