Maserati GT Convertible rumoured

Following news this morning of BMW’s M3 going topless comes rumours from the Maserati camp that the stunning Gran Turismo is to receive the same treatment.

Sources close to Maserati suggest the GT Convertible will sport the awesome 4.2 litre V8 and will most likely have a folding fabric roof though more specific news is not yet available.

In what’s been a profitable year for Maserati, selling 7000 units, the news could not have come at a better time considering the company was running at a loss only twelve months prior. We should imagine a drop top GT will only see things improve further.

As always we’ll keep you posted on any developments and pictures as we get them. The Maserati GT Convertible is expected to be on sale from early 2009.

Although Maserati is making some sweet looking cars, the designs fall short of the those earlier, more individual cars like the Sebring, Ghibli and Khamsin which were every bit as good looking as their Ferrari counterparts at the time. Hell, they’re still good looking cars!

no don’t agree Anthony this looks pretty good to me. Typical Maserati and not like ferrari/Lambo cloning. Ok its probably not as good on the road/track but with only 7000 Maserati’s on the road its exclusive.

“pretty good” is right. That means not great. Google the three cars I have mentioned and tell me what you think compared to the Ferrari’s of the day.

Yep interesting. the 67 Sebring was great there is a mild similarity with the GT above. I’d Still have it over a Ferrai though.

Anthony is right. BUT.. Maserati went this wau cause fiat owns them and now they have become a car range that fits under Ferrari not compete. Same went for Alfa Romeo.
They all used to race in F1.

I do like this new Maserati, I also loved the 2000 model with boomarang breaklights..Why they changed em ill never know.
