Efijy to appear at Melbourne Hot Rod Show
January 16, 2008 by Matt Brogan
After a stint in Dubai, Holden’s show stopping Efijy is set to guest star at next weekend’s Victorian Hot Rod Show in Melbourne.
Staged annually since 1965, the show is a mecca for car and bike enthusiasts with last year’s entry list topping 160 participants.
The four day show which is staged over the Australia Day long weekend (including Friday) attracts some 25000 visitors and includes a rockabilly band, hot rods, street machines, customs, bikes and trade stands. Judging will take place over the duration of the show.
Always a family orientated affair, the Rod Show hasn’t forgotten the kids with colouring competitions, slot cars, mini rods, low rider motorcycles, and a model car display which will also incorporate a competition with prize trophies to be won.
Opening times for the show are:
- Friday 25th January: Noon – 10pm
- Saturday 26th January: 10am – 10pm
- Sunday 27th January: 10am – 10pm
- Monday 28th January: 10am – 6pm
The Victorian Hot Rod Show is held at the Exhibition Buildings, Nicholson St, Carlton. Admission costs are $20 for adults, $10 for kids and $40 for families.

I saw that at Brisbane Motor show a while ago.
Yes Oz, it’s been at many of the bigger International Motor Shows, that wasn’t the point made.
To see Efijy appear at a comparitively small show for a enthusiast group is a great move by the promoters.
I’m sure the guys and girls who pour so much love and money in to their own cars will really appreciate being seen along side Efijy.
Effigy is fantastic to see in the flesh.
Obviously the hot rod show doesn’t cost $1 million for the stand.
Mercedes should come here instead.
Why would u have a Mercedes at a hot rod show. The Effijy earn a space there and should continue to be at the motorshows
^^^pretty sure that was sarcasm…zoom
hot rods rule if any one has got a cool hot rod id love to see it on the road instead of the garage.
ve seen awsome hot rods on the road.
And who knows maby i have a better hot rod than you.
Reckless – There is a Hot Rod known as “Mercules” which I seem to recall is a Mercury Tourer with Merc-Benz features… is that the car you are thinking of?
Yet I don’t think the owner of Mercules would ever be offered $2m for his hot rod.. Unlike Holden designer Richeard Fellazzo was for the Efijy by a Middle Eastern Sheik after it had won International Hot Rod Of The Year which was judged by a number of custom car legends including Chip Foose. Fellazzo obviously knocked back the offer.
