Video: 19 teenage girls cram into a smart fortwo in Pakistan

Pakistan has broken a world record set by an Australian team earlier this year, but if you’re thinking its got anything to do with cricket, hockey, or another traditional sporting rivalry between the two nations, you’d be wrong.

A team of 19 teenage girls is the new holder of the Guinness World Record for the prestigious title of ‘Most people crammed in smart car’, breaking the previous mark of 18 recorded by the Climb Fit Team in Sydney in January.

The girls, all students at Karachi Grammar, took just one minute to pile into the smart fortwo and stayed in position for 10 seconds, double the length of the previous record.

A number of big names were on hand to witness the record, including former cricket captain Waseem Akram, former hockey captain Islahuddin Siddique, advisors to the Prime Minister and the government, and of course, officials from Guinness.

Guinness World Records also recently awarded a record to a group of surfers in California who drove 30 metres with 282 surfboards stacked on the roof of their car.

Rinspeed Dock+Go concept with connecting range-extender
Trust the team over at Rinspeed to come up with an outside-the-square concept like this. It's called the Dock+Go and it is based on the Smart Fortwo with an electric powertrain. The concept uses a connectible rear subframe, modelled like the back of a Smart Fortwo, which provides range-extending power via a combustion engine.

If you're the kind of person who loves the dance floor, particularly an '80s dance floor, then perhaps this is the car for you. It's a specially made smart electric drive that's covered in disco ball-style mirrors. The car was created by music formation 'Apparatjik' and will be used in an upcoming film called Pixel City.

    Well two weeks ago i saw 7 students get out of a jazz at Liverpool Station and park in a disabled zone. Then get on the train and jet off to UNI/ School.

    What a crock. The Sydney Climb fit team were a mix of men and women of varying heights and builds. The Pakistan team were all short anorexic girls. The Aussies need to use the Anorexics anonymous club to smash the record.
