2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged - 2008 Detroit Auto Show
2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged - 2008 Detroit Auto Show - Day 2
The new 2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged was on display in Detroit. Using a 6.2-litre LS9 engine attached to a positive-displacement blower and integral charge cooler, the ZR1 is one hell of a car.
GM are very tightlipped about the car’s credentials, only saying that it will Produce at least 100 horsepower per litre - 620hp - 462kW.
It will also managed 805Nm of torque. This is no joke, the ZR1 is expected to go from 0-100km/h in mid to low 3s making it one of the fastest cars on the planet.
The limited-production LS9 engine will be built by hand in GM’ engine facility in Wixom, Michigan. The car is only available with a six-speed manual transmission, as no automatic could take this much torque!
The supercharged ZR1 will become the first supercharged production Corvette in history.

hate to spoil the fun of the new pics on the camaro n stuff but, i remember reading on this site by other blogger (HOLDEN FANS) saying that the DOHC engine is really shit and holdens OHV n 2 valves per cylider engine was better, well it looks like the next Gen V 6.2ltr V8 will be OHV and DOHC. If you dont believe me go to www.futureoftheunion.com/docs/.....9pages.pdf

What on earth are you on about? The LS9 supercharged V8 is a pushrod 2 valve motor just like all other corvette engines. GM currently produces both pushrod V8’s (for its performance cars) and DOHC V8’s (for their luxury cars) and will continue to do so into the future. So what exaclty is your point? what kind of new information are you providing?
Unless ofcourse you are comparing the pushrod V8 in the commodore to the DOHC V8 in the falcon, in which case i’m sorry but although the DOHC V8 in the falcon does indeed sound better, the LS2 in the commodores is a much better engine, much more down low punch as well as a screaming top end, whereas the falcon only has the screaming top end and no down low punch. Don’t believe me? Then drive the two back to back

oh and the reason for the commodore V8 being better is nothing to do with pushrods being better then DOHC or visa versa, its simply because the LS2 V8 in the commodores was designed from the outset to be a performance engine, whereas the DOHC 5.4ltr V8 in the falcon was originally designed to be a truck engine. Ford Australia simply raided the parts bin for a DOHC head to wack onto the truck engine block and hey presto a “high tech” DOHC V8… well not really sorry

Ok first of all this is not a COMMODORE so take that Ford argument to the forums.
The hand built LS9 will be a thumping motor no matter how old the tech.
This is a car that does GM proud and I’m no fanboy, this is a supercar no matter how you look at it.
