Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept - 2008 Detroit Auto Show - Day 2

The Cadillac CTS Coupe concept is Cadillac's idea of taking on Mercedes and BMW. The brand has today also unveiled a high performance CTS-V variant which is powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 generating around 410kW and  and a staggering 745Nm torque.

"If we're going to compete with the BMW 3 series and the Mercedes' C class, we obviously need more than one body style," said Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman of global product development. " Up until now, we've competed with one, and that just won't do it."

Bob Lutz, the outspoken critic of the recent emission laws was asked if Cadillac was heading in the wrong direction with its supercharged V8 engines, Lutz said:

"At the height of the vegetarian phase, grocery stores still featured steak. We are a full-service grocery."
