E49 Charger at Brisbane Summer Auction

Arguably one of the rarest and fastest Aussie Muscle Cars built, the 1972 VH Charger E49 R/T Bathurst Coupe was built to conquer the mountain. Now it could be yours, for the right price of course.
Powered by Chrysler’s 265 ”Six Pack” engine (producing 225kW), the E49 was fed by three twin-choke Weber carburettors and run a four speed manual through a final drive ratio of 3.50:1. In short, it was quick. Very quick.
The E49 was in fact the quickest accelerating Aussie Muscle Car of its era clocking 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds – pretty good considering this was 36 years ago! The quarter mile was knocked over in 14.4 seconds but despite all Chrysler’s best efforts, the E49 never won at Bathurst.
There were only 145 examples of the E49 built, and this documented original is now up for grabs at the Brisbane Summer Auction. Finished in Mercury Silver, one of 29 in this colour, the car is expected to fetch between $220,000 and $260,000.

Powerful engine for it’s time
From memory weren’t they faster than a Phase 3?????
Shocking to say but yes the Phase III did 14.7 secconds. and this charger did 14.4 secconds 1/4 mile.
Charger was a great car but was ugly compared to its real american version.
Phase 3 was great looking and the fastest 4 door car in the world.
Holden never had anything good looking or as fast as this, or reached $750Kaus selling price.
BM, they were quicker over the quarter, but not faster. The Phase III had a higher top speed.
Been in several of these. A few friends have owned them over the years. The sound they make is really quite unique.
It certainly opens your eyes when they open the taps! :D

in my opinion the best car ever produced in australia if not the world a hot looking car with some serious horsepower 302hp to be exact with a top speed of 135mph as a fellow chrysler owner i envy the lucky son of a bitch who owns this one
Phase 3 was the fastest 4 door in the world but who cares about cars with 4 doors! E49 australia`s fastest accelerating six cylinder for more than 30 years! Insane!
