The look of this new dodge is just awesome! It looks like it just all clicks together n it doesnt look to try hard or over done. I wounder what engine it has in it n what the power figures r. Does ny 1 no if they r the same as the Crysler 300C SRT8?

  • Bavarian Missile

Im with you Cobra 302……no idea on the figures though! Google a search on them for me?

Bloody popular Chargers in the states…more so than those big ugly 300c things! Why couldn’t we get them instead?

  • Wheelnut

    it has 4 engine options..

    2.7 Litre V6 with 170 horsepower [SXT]
    3.5 Litre V6 with 250 horsepower [R/T or Daytona]

    5.7 Litre Hemi V8 with 360 Horsepower[R/T or SRT-8]
    6.1 Litre Hemi with 425 Horsepower [SRT-8]
Both Hemi V8s have Displacement on Demand

Alright BM i’ll Dodge the green issues on this one. Tee Hee… It looks ace and As Dodge are pushing the Euro market I suspect this may come here, BUT it had better handle well as we all know Yank tanks are not good for drving the bendies.

Hi Wheelnut. Guess the Torque figure are good as 170 out of a 2.7 is nothing to shout about. My 3.0CDTI has 184Hp and 400lb/foot (137KW and 545Nm i think).

  • Brian

I have a 2006 SRT8 Charger (in black, looks just like the display) – they put down 425 HP at the crank, and about 370-380 at the wheels. Torque is at 420. As far as i know, the 6.1 does not come with the 4 cylinder shutoff (displacement on demand) for the 2008 year. Both 06 and 07 did not. BTW – the SRT only comes with the 6.1; the 5.7 is the R/T version.
I can tell you from experience – even though it’s a heavy car, it’s no slouch in the twisties. And acceleration? Let’s just say I’ve heard of some breaking into the high 12′s in the quarter mile, stock. I’ve only gotten mine to 13.5 so far, but I’m still learning how to launch it well.

Gaaaaah, why can’t we have them in Australia?
The closest we get is the Avenger, it’s nice too, but not the same.
Actually, come to think of it, I’m almost certain you can’t get any form of muscle car in Australia. Blahh.

  • Ben M

been interested in this car ever since is saw it in the movie street kings. the design is aggresive yet it looks sophisticated as well. then i looked up the cars in dodge australia and we dont get it aarrgh. we only get the avenger which is nothing like the charger. even the challenger is a nice car and we dont get that. the pricing of this car in the states looks really good but if i were to order it over here it wouldnt be worth it. so my only hope is that dodge start briniging them here. it makes no sense why they wouldnt have it here. aussies love muscle cars and this would be a real rival for the ford n holdens. PLEASE DODGE BRING THE CHARGER TO AUSTRALIA!!!

I’ve been driving a V6 rental in Hawaii (I expect the smallest engine), and its a bit of a slouch – haven’t properly tested, but it looks like about 12sec 0-100 time (i.e. slower than my old 4cyl 1.8L Astina), but the engine sounds great (if a little quiet), and the huge interior, with reasonably good handling make it fun to drive.
I’m very disappointed I won’t be able to get one once I get back to Australia :(
