Not to mention not fixing the engine flood if you dont drive for less than 15 minutes - try doing a bay swap in your inner city life, expect to pay another dealer tow bill :(
Paint quality - had my roof resprayed , and not the boot hood has a discolor spot. And the cut price quality of the interior marks soooo easily.
Not impressed - now to find a way to offload the lemon. Lucky it has the looks, cause thats about it.

to kuboy,
say they do put a turbo in the r3 model the mileage will drop from 23mpg to about 10mpg.
also even they did a lightly modded one it would barely be emissions legal and also very expensive and therefore not cost effective. mazda knows people want more power and they are workingon it with the 16X engine google it u will see. it should appear in about 2010+

HP! HP! HP! The rx8 will never be a GREAT looking car! But it's one of the best 'bang for your bucks' four seater car! So rather than concentrating on the the looks, Mazda should've increase the HP!!! I for one will rather buy an older rx8 and put a turbo in it than wasting my money on a new one!

It's not the power that's a problem for the auto, its the revs that the rotary engine reaches. They've done well to get that much extra power and keep it within a lower RPM limit than the manual.

I prefer the rounded looks of the original RX-8. The pointier front goes against the swoopyness of the middle. More options and trim levels though... I'll keep mine as it is :-)

Any ideas on prices for the trim levels?

Any idea for the trim levels?

Also I noticed the base model doesn't have DSC if I read this article right, that is definitely poor. There is no reason for the base model to not have DSC in this day and age.

Also generally haven't electric steering reduced feeling over power assisted steering methods?

I thing the current model looks better. The expected new one (pictured above) looks like a cross between a 6 body with an evolved RX-8 front end put on it.

I didn't see a problem with the size of the current suicide doors. If people as tall as Jeremy Clarkson can get in it... sheesh, even I can get in it, and I literally cannot fit into a Renault Megane. But improvements none the less.

Pitty that power is down. Looks like they're starting a trend with all their cars. First the 2, now this. Yes it's lighter, but people always want more. Not less.

Auto cars having less power is common. The manufacturers source cheaper transmissions that can't cope with the power to save on costs. Though I'd like to know what sort of torque the engine produces in auto guise. If it's similar to the manual, then there shouldn't be a massive difference in acceleration.

Hopefully they didn't follow the interior quality path like they have with the new 2. The boxy 2 was good. Dashboard was highest in quality I had ever seen in cars almost double in price. Not in the new one.

NO!

Not good enough! "R" for repeat!

Why does the auto still have heaps less output than the manual?

In any case i would expect in this day and age 200kW, its not that much, but it would give the RX8 the performance to match the similar priced 350Z.

Will have to wait for the all new model now, another 4 years?

Better but NO cigar!

Cheers
