Mitsubishi Evo X track tested

By George Skentzos |

The Mitsubishi Evo X has been put through its paces around the track, and just like its arch rival the Subaru Impreza WRX STi, this latest model falls short of its predecessor (but don’t tell Alborz).

Alborz, please read as per above =)

Did i interpret that voice over correctly? The evo x is a 30+
persons car? Japan is trying to civilize the world with softer toys!

I want that one (the red one)

Great evolution of cars, but has anyone noticed the current crop of ralley cars are slowly becoming civilized…Like Audi did in ’90′s…

so what its slightly slower through the quarter mile, the same through the slalom, and holds higher G’s through the G test, to me that reads a draw, not a victory to the older model! Also they tested the manual, which according to mitsubishi is slower then the new DSG auto, therefore the straight line advantage the 9 has will probably be eaten up by the DSG equiped 10. Plus the 10, according to this report, is a much better car then the numbers suggest anyway. To me, this video just confirms what i already think, and thats that the evo 10 is awesome and better then the evo 9! The evolution continues…

and heres my evidence, SST equiped evo X clearly smashes the manual equiped evo X over the quarter

Still, i think the evoX will fall short in WRC, but it’s just my opinion.
Subaru has listened to Peter Solberg and made the changes, and the STI still looks awesome.

quote from the drive.com evo 9 review (the cons): “Excessive noise and crap ride could well drive you insane. Far too hard core for most.”

so the car critics got exactly what they wanted, but they still complain

  • Richo

thats what critics do.. Also mitsubishi hasn’t confirmed whether or not they are going to go back into WRC competition, however at this stage it looks somewhat unlikely. Regardless the WRC versions of the impreza and lancer have absolutely nothing in common with the road going STi and EVO, other then the styling.

    Awesome car. Can’t wait.
