McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race car spy photos

Spy photographers have snapped the first images of the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 – a race-ready high-performance version of the all-new carbon-chassis supercar.

There are few details about under-the-bonnet enhancements, but it is believed the vehicle is being developed in collaboration with Donington-based racing team CRS, who has experience racing GT3 Ferrari F430s.

A number of visual changes are evident however, with the giant rear wing being the glaringly obvious addition.

The front side air intakes have been closed off and replaced by a duct in centre of the bonnet, while the window vents have also been revised. The tacked-on wings on the front bumper are most likely part of aerodynamics testing, and are unlikely to appear on the final version of the GT3 car.

Today’s spy photos follow yesterday’s announcement of the European pricing for the standard MP4-12C road car, which will start at £168,500 in the UK and around €200,000 ($272,000) in other EU markets.
