Australian Festival of Speed gears up in Perth
Mark Webber's Formula 1 car has arrived in Perth ahead of this weekend's Australian Festival of Speed.
Webber will be lapping Barbagallo Raceway in an attempt to break the lap record - a pretty sure bet. Three laps will be completed, plus a host of demonstration runs by classic Bathurst cars, electric cars, a police pursuit on land and in the air, as well as rally cars, V8 Supercars and just about any other category you care to name.
Red Bull Team boss Tony Burrows told News Limited that Webber was upbeat despite missing out on the driver's title in this years F1.
“Mark’s always been a great team player and he’s done a great job for the unit this year,” he said.
“He’s obviously disappointed with what happened, but he’s a great guy and he’s determined to do it next year when he gets another crack at it.
“The victories he’s had in places like Silverstone and Monaco were some fantastic drives and he has nothing to be ashamed about.”
Beyond the action on the main circuit, the AAC Festival of Speed will also host:
- Western Australia’s largest ever display of motor and motorsport clubs
- All-day action on Jack’s Hill Climb course (right next to the circuit) – where the best of Western Australia’s motor clubs will take on the demanding 1.3 km climb
- Family program includes Remote Control Buggy GP, mini-MX and quad demos and side show attractions.
