hmmm… definately the best looking skoda i have seen at this stage. if they can get the price right this might do well in aus. A co-worker has a octavia as his co car and absolutely swears by its build quality and the way it drives. skoda however needs more public awareness in aus. how bout a flashy ad campaign to get our attention? or an rs with a bit more passion?

Skoda has been bough by VW, few yrs back…octavia is preety mych a jetta…same engine…same specs…

only difference i think was the price…because its being made in eastern europe, its few grand cheaper than VW, but preety much same quality

My wife had the previous one based on a stretched Passat floor pan. Was a really good car for the money. This one looks good. Plenty of room in the rear. The diesels will be the big sellers in the UK. Hopefully they will use the Audi 2.7 or 3.0 diesel. Can’t wait to see one in the flesh. The wifes up for a new Co. car soon, we’ll definitely look into this. Yep stupid name but its historical for Skoda.

No doubt there is a place in the market for this, but it’s not amongst style leaders. Length of the passenger compartment overwhelms the wheelbase like the unfortunate current model Honda Accord V6. Seems to be the perfect car for high-ranking Government officials to ride in the back of in the emerging democracies of Eastern Europe. ie. plenty of room in the back but not African Dictator image like a long wheelbase S Class or 7 series.

Man these guys have come a long way! I find the back tends to cut off to sudden but it is possibly the angle of the photos

Yes Lcat, it’s similar to the Octavia, in that it’s a sedan, but the rear window lifts up like a hatchback.

I think it is a hatchback from what I’ve read elsewhere.
