Lamborghini Sesto Elemento to be track car

Lamborghini's stunning new concept vehicle first unveiled at the Paris Auto Show earlier this year, has been confirmed for production. In between seven to 10 of these exquisitely exotic hypercars will be made, but the company has revealed they will be available as a track-only car.

Due to the stupendous attention to detail and light-weight focus of the car, Lamborghini's CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has announced that the car will only be suitable for track use. He recently said,

"We are testing the Sesto Elemento at the moment and if it all goes well then we could look at a limited production run. But it would not be homologated because there are complications with things like airbags. It would be for track use only."

The super light-weight engineering behind the car allows it to weigh just 999kg through the use of something called 'forged carbon'. Looking inside the car it's easy to see why it's probably not the safest place to be. And pedestrian-wise, the front end - with its shards of carbon fibre - is low enough to literally scoop walkers off the ground.

Behind the driver there's the same 5.2-litre V10 engine, also seen in the Lamborghini Gallardo, and outputs 419kW of power and 539Nm of torque. Lamborghini says the car will be capable of doing the 0-100km/h sprint in just 2.5 seconds - with a weight of 999kg and 419kW on board, it's hard to argue.

Rumour has it the car will cost around $3.5 million though. So, if you can afford such significance, then not being able to register it is probably not a big deal as you'll have shares in (or own) a race track of some kind yourself.
