Audi RS3 Sportback released

Audi has taken the wraps off its latest RS car, the RS3 Sportback.

Shoehorning the 2.5-litre, turbocharged five-cylinder from the Audi TT-RS into an RS3 was always going to be a good idea. In this case, it makes for 250kW, 450Nm and a blistering 0-100km/h time of just 4.6 seconds. The quickest hot-hatch around? Gotta be close.

Putting the power to the ground is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, running through all four wheels (quattro) which are shod in 19-inch wheels. One thing's for sure, it'll go around corners very quickly.

Proving its intent, the fenders are even made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to keep weight down. The track has been widened to accomodate the all-wheel-drive system, while the stiffened suspension sits 25mm lower than a regular Audi A3.

As you can see, the styling pulls no punches, letting onlookers know this car means business. Matt silver finishes, gaping intakes, rear diffuser, roof spoiler - it all adds up to one aggressive package.

Pricing and availability is yet to be announced for Australia, but in Europe, it's priced at 49,990 Euros (AU$69,000).
