Where are they now? Supercars abandoned
January 8, 2008 by Karl Peskett
It’s one thing when someone has more money than driving ability. Take for example the STI crash, or the GT-R accident. But it’s an entirely different thing when someone simply leaves hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of automotive exotica, just so the elements can take care of it.
So when we stumbled across this collection of neglected beauties, you can imagine how we felt. Kind of makes your blood boil when you see it, doesn’t it?
Let us know how many you can identify.

I wish I could fix up that 300sl !
I’d have the Fuche’s (wheels) off the 911. Forget the Lancia, the electrics were bad enough when it was made.

Most valuable car there- Bugatti then Gullwing Mercedes?
It’s enough to make you cry… some people don’t deserve cars.
That is like taking a dump in the Louvre….
Can I have the Muira?
I get sad and almost cry when good cars are crushed in films. This just makes me depressed.
Now I’ll have to stop what I’m working on and go play Live For Speed for an hour or 5.
Some of the Rollers are easy to understand – in England they used to put salt on the roads for ice, and many cars including the Rollers were eaten away by the salt induced corrosion.
Saw lots of cancerous vehicles in the UK in 1973, couldn’t believe my eyes as a poor traveller; in those days everyones dream car was a Roller, and here they were with rust everywhere.
Whats the story here?
Are they for sale?
Grab them just for the id plates and s/n’s
Cheers

Go out to rural areas, there are yards full of this. Great cars wasted – I don’t know why.
You hear of these environmentalists and such going out to save animals and trees etc. I feel the same when I see all these neglected cars… just I don’t have the money to do so.
I recon the 300sl merc would be worth something, even in that condition.
If people spend so much money on cars, they should spend the same amount on maintaining it, especially these exotic ones.
Yes, it is sad to see but there so much \”good\” scrap out there – people think they are going to restore them but don\’t etc. The cars get rarer and values increase for the ones that do make it !
Anyway, this is a collection of pics from all over the world – US, Spain, UK and so on. Some cars which are basically worthless in one place (a old Roller in the UK), are worth more in other places. A old rusty Ferarri in Italy is probably worth little too ?
#6 circa 1954 Ferrari 250MM Vignale Spider

Would be pretty cool to have that 300SL sitting in my backyard…even if it was in that state..LoL.
Your E type Jaguar pic is a series 2 not 3. The s3 has flared wheel arches front and back, The s2 2+2 is very similar especially when the lower front panel is missing thus removing the air scoop only found on the s3.
Is the 12th pic a real car? It looks like a plastic prop or a toy.
The Bugatti,it is the T57 Ventoux, http://www.bugattirevue.com
^ Oz re #12
(not 100% certain) 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupe
#12 was the motorshow mockup for the tvr speed 12 and was a radical styling departure from both existing tvr’s and what the speed 12 eventually became, it was based on a fully functional cerbera prototype that the gutted, stuck a heap of fibreglass on, slotted a fancy 900bhp v12 engine in (not connected mind you)and they painted the windows so nobody could see it had no interior, was cut up and shipped to the dump when the russian business boy shut down the company and all the stuff that was left behind got carted to the tip. you can prolly find more info on http://www.pistonheads.com . lots of tvr nuts on there and bound to be heaps of info on this “car”
correction of previous post! (can’t count)
#19 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupe
Thanks Vaggeli
Never would have guessed the picture of the miura I took would end up here…..For your info….the car is still there….The old lady who has it will NOT sell! Maybe one day I’ll get it!
This is terrable, almost makes me cry.
Im not a merc fan but the SL certainly deserves better, its the finest car they ever made (my opinion).
The Aston, what can i say, but “WHY!”, it even looks structually intact! Few thousand hours in my shop and it would be good as new.
Dino ferrari, not my favorite but again “why”.
And then we get to the buggatti (no idea what model)……….. these people should be locked up! I cant even comprehend how someone could just leave that to rot, theres probably only afew dozen like it left ANYWHERE… its history! worth it weight in gold!
I wish I could rescue these cars…
Here in New York City, we have so, so many abandoned cars in various lots. In most cases, people feel that they will eventually get back to them. In my own case, I have a Jensen Interceptor, Jaguar xjs and a Maserati 425 sitting in one of my lots. Years ago I parked them there and eventually just forgot about them. Only history. Think of it this way… in 200 years, no one will car about the difference between a Ferrari and a VW.
all of these cars are worth $$$$$ even if rust is all over them.
are they all in england?
people leaving cars like that to die, schould be shot!!
……………
there are no wwords for this.
i could sit down and cry for hours.
worlds most beautiful creations trown away like junk.
