Mazda Australia announces price savings across the range

By Brett Davis |

Savings are now in place on the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6 and the Mazda BT-50. Mazda has cut prices by up to $1000 across the range on certain, already top-selling, models.

All Mazda2 Neos are now available from $16,490 drive away. This is effective on all 2010 model Mazda2 Neo variants. It’s a saving of $500; not all that significant but still a saving nonetheless.

The Mazda3 gets a more substantial price slash of $1000. Madza3 is one of Australia’s best-selling small cars at the moment and now buyers can benefit from this price cut which is in place across the entire range. Prices start at $21,990.

The Mazda6 medium sedan also gets a $1000 price reduction, also available across the entire range. Prices now start at $33,990.

The Mazda BT-50 4×2 single cab chassis DX also gets a $1000 price cut and is available from $21,990 drive away.

Mazda Australia Managing Director said:

“Mazda is the number one import brand in Australia with record sales this year. These new promotional price points in our 2010 Total Stock Clearance will ensure that we finish the year on a high.”

  • mmmmmm

the Mazda6 starts from $28000 for the Limited manual. The $33990 would be for the mid-range Classic model

    • Material Guy

they’re quoting drive away prices but you’re still right, the limited is already cheaper at around $31k drive away

  • vti07

I’d imagine this price reduction would help in clearing existing stock to make way for the Sky engine Mazdas.

    • MisterMister

Hahaha, Sky engines won’t be out for years. Not until next generation Mazda6 (2013) and facelifted Mazda3 (2012+).

      • Devil’s Advocate

Actually, the first model that will be available with the skyactiv divetrain will be the Mazda 2 in the first half of next year, not 2012+. Also the next gen 6 is supposed to be due in 2012, not 2013. Mazda do sell more than the 3 and 6 you know! Hahahaha! TIC ;-)

        • Shak

          Very Correct.

        • MisterMister

You’re wrong. Current 6 was introduced in mid-2008, so the new model will be 5 years from then, or 2013 at the earliest. However, the first gen. 6 had a 6-year cycle (2002-2008), so going by that, it could be an even longer wait for the new 6.

          • Devil’s Advocate

There are quite a few websites mentioning that the next gen Mazda6 is now going to be released in 2012. Also you are the one that is wrong in one thing. This straight from Mazda’s corporate website, the 2nd Gen Mazda6 was first released for sale in October 2007 with production commencing August 2007, NOT 2008. So that throws your numbers out the window as the first gen 6 did indeed have a 5 year model cycle so I may not be wrong afterall as 2007-2012 is shock, horror, 5 years…

One of the articles I found from mid October this year even quoted Takashi Yamanouchi, Mazda CEO, mentioning that we will have to wait until 2012 for the new Skyactiv powered “Mazda6 sized vehicle” with similar economy to the current Mazda2. Then again, what would a CEO know as they can lie all the time… ;-)
It is not set in stone that they “have” to release a new shape every X number of years…

Is that ALL, these guys have been ripping OFF Australian Car buyers for DECADES…do a factory On Line Search, and RX-8 is $26,000 USD on the Road in the USA, the exact same Australian RX-8 in right Hand Drive form and made at the exact same Hiroshima Car plant is $58,000 Australian Dollar on the road, SO WHO is making the money??, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan and Honda are the same, they will charge as much as the consumer will bear.
    It is WRONG, Wrong, Wrong!!

    • nickdl

Well it’s actually the government making the majority of that on import tariffs and various other taxes. That’s not saying I don’t agree with you because cars in Australia are too expensive. However a lot of that $32000 is out of carmakers’ control.

      • Shak

Go and do a thorough search and we come to see that this age old argument about tariffs and taxes is a bit skewed. Tariffs are only at 5% now, and the only really major tax if the LCT which only applies to cars retailing at over 57k.

    • themarvel

Sales volume is the main issue here… many RX-8s sold in the USA, very few here.
Heck, they even convert them to a 22B & race against Corvettes and M3′s in the Grand-Am series… and win! They are popular in the road-racing circles in USA!

      • Devil’s Advocate

I think you will find it is a 20B themarvel as Mazda have never made a 22B rotary. A lot of people don’t realise that there are more Mazdas racing at club level over in the US than any other brand. :-)

    • Eric

If the Jap cars Cos are ripping off Australian with the final drive away price then HOLDEN and FORD selling the equivalent cars must be making a KILLING selling their cars for similar money.

      Eric

    • HMMMmmm

Arent the price of cars relative to the average income/ expenses in each country?

  • Duckula

Any money off is better than nothing.. having said that I wish Mazda would sort out the whole NVH issues they have with their cars….

  • Handy

i just bought my mazda this week and have not even received my mazda. Now they telling me that the price drop by $1000. i am going to call my dealer to ask for the discount :(

    • Eric

If you paid LESS than the new price what the problem.

If you paid more, yes call them and ask for the NEW price.

      Eric

Not happy Jan if you bought a new one last week before the price drop.

  • Alex II

Vehicle price reductions are always so welcomed. I’m sure many Mazda owners will jump for joy at this news.

I’m a Honda Euro owner and was really pleased to see Honda reduce this car and steal money directly from me in resale value. The car is 18 months old and I was recently offered $30,000 for it as a trade-in from a Mazda dealer, what a joke, a car which could have cost me $53,000 drive away and I would have torn up $23,000 in 18 months. Any buyer in the mid size market should beware, this market is shrinking, which means the vehicles are worthless.

    • Alex II

      Btw, yes sour grapes lol

This is the four new Honda I’ve owned and the last. Next time instead of trying to buy a new car every couple of years, I\\\’m just going to buy a BMW X6 (or similar) and keep it for 10 years, at least I get something prestigious to drive then.

      • MisterMister

Don’t know why you’re complaining about Honda resale. I bought a 2003 CR-V new for $40k on road, and sold it 7 years later for $19k. So it cost me $21k over a 7 year period, or $3k per year. Not bad. My car before that was a 2000 CR-V, bought for $32k and sold in 2003 for $25k, a 7k cost over 3 years, or $2.3k per year.

        • Alex II

CRV’s and S2000′s are not comparable to a Euro! I had a Prelude for 5 years and only lost $24k on it. My point is the mid size car market is shrinking and dragging the resale values down with it.

    • Eric

I traded in a Holden Vectra the other day 2004 CDXi nice car. Cost $50000. Trade in $5500.

Be Glad if you bought a Mazda Honda Toyota or a Subaru.

Worth a lot more used then Aus, US or Euro cars.

      Eric

      • MisterMister

Entirely your fault. You could have sold it privately and got double that figure. Also, Holden dropped the price of the CDXi from $47,990 in 2004, to $39,990 in 2005. That explains the massive depreciation drop, which you can thank Holden for. Of course, if you were silly enough to pay 50 grand for a mid-size Holden, that’s equally your fault. Everyone back then knew it was way overpriced, hence the poor sales and quick price drop.

        • Alex II

          Says the s2000 buyer lol

          • Gan Tan

s2000 still has a market of buyers though

          • MisterMister

            Read my post again – I didn’t say S2000, I said 2000 CR-V.

        • Eric

          Even privately @ $10.000 is a massive rip. That’s 80% loss.

So the lessen is NEVER EVER buy a new Holden.

          Eric

  • Anthony

I did very well with a mid size VW Jetta.
Cost $35900 drive away in October 2006,got $25000 for it in May 2010.
    Go Volkswagen…
