Hyundai Grandeur renderings revealed, not coming to Australia

By Tim Beissmann |

UPDATED Friday November 19 at 10:30 with comment from Hyundai Australia.

Hyundai has released the first official renderings of the all-new Hyundai Grandeur.

Little is known about the new Grandeur, with production details, performance data and specifications still to be released.

What is clear, however, is that the Grandeur will finally adopt Hyundai’s “fluidic sculpture” design language – the front especially sharing much with the current Hyundai i45.

The flowing rear LED lights are an evolution of the current design, but appear much sharper and more cohesive.

Hyundai says the new Grandeur will combine “tradition and high technology, setting a new standard for the premium large sedan segment”.

Hyundai Australia confirmed the new Grandeur will not be introduced in Australia, making the current model the final to be sold Down Under.

The current model Grandeur sold in Australia received a facelift in June this year, although the vehicle has always been a slow seller.

Just one was registered in October, taking the total to 20 for the year (compared with 45 after 10 months in 2009).

    Aurion-ish front with a A4-ish backend…. not so bad…

    • G

      Definitely Aurion-ish front.
      Nothing Audi-ish anywhere though.
I’d stick with the Superb, thank you.

The Superb might be a very good car. But it’s ugly, very ugly in fact.

I really like the look of this thing. My favourite Hyundai design.

hoping the real life thing would look much better than the quick views for-now…
    :)

They are really gunning to conquer the world. Hope they work on the suspension this time.

I don’t like the design as much as the i45. I don’t like the rear door treatment, I don’t like the awkward headlight/grille, and the chrome going all the way around the window frames is always tacky regardless of the car it’s on (a few can get away with it.. on an LS460 I wouldn’t complain). That said, I much prefer the clean coupe-like styling of my i45.

I love the way, just because you have an i45 you think its the bestest looking car in the playground… I think the i45 looks like some tacky american junk… so stick that in your Pokemon backpack :P

Much better looking than the melty i45. This is the sort of car that our HC industry should be buying. Fuel efficient, Good Looking, spacious and powerful. Sorta makes the Caprice and/or 300C look pointless.

    Where’s the Kia version?

    • MisterMister

Kia version (K7 / Cadenza) was unveiled well over a year ago.
