Comments on: Holden VE Commodore recalled again

Hi I am thinking of buying a 60th annaversary ve omega or a SV6. Do this years VE’s have the same problems as the earlier models or have they been fixed.

Let’s face it, no car is perfect. One will always have a defect on it. The issue here now is the consistency of defects. The Japs would have a handful of bad apples in the barrel, which is acceptable, but it seems that Holden has a lot of them all the time.

But why should they care? Australia, unfortunately, made the Commodore last month’s bestseller again.

Over the past few years holden has had the most recalls of any manufacturer-eg my last count was holden 68 to fords 26.
Certain areas of the media seem to think it is acceptable, but its not.

This is true…at ihatemycar.com.au plenty of people gave opinions on cars made in Japan and not all positive…so recalls means nothing as even best cars can get recalled for any reason.

Yes I agree with that TP. I can’t remember which blog but I said Holden has better V8s and Fords have better 6’s. You said in regards to Holdens V8 something to the effect of “better numbers maybe, but unsophisticated engine” or “not better engine”… well something like that.

I agree wholeheartedly there. It’s funny how Chev’s old 2 valves/cylnder push-rod V8 is better than Ford’s modern 4 valve quad-cam V8 (although smaller capacity). And on the 6 pot side Ford’s inline 6 craps on Holdens Alloytech V6. Strange.

I won’t get into the taxes, and all that stuff. Know nothing about it.

Toyota Paul, why do you allways come just to start an argument?

About Top Gear saying the Hilux being the toughest vehicle in the world…That is a figure of speech. Just because of a test doesn’t mean it’s really is toughest in the world. If it realy is, that means it has to be tougher than a semi trailer.

But what has gottin’ into you? You said….

…Now you realy have a grudge againts them. Maybe you need to leave untill you can show some respect to things which arn’t your most loved, because there is a whole world out there you know!

i thought we were starting to be civilised with TP and agree on stuff on the other page then he comes out with this rubbish.

you are like a woman, not happy unless you are whinging or we are not happy.

the way i find the 2 vehicles in question (hilux and rolla) as overrated is due to them being far from class leaders……..simple.

i dont know what you are ranting on about in terms of local industry, but as i said cars will not become $5-10k cheaper overnight if the taxes lowered.

You seem to think I’m slagging off Toyota for the fun of it. As I said, our mates in the Patrols and “Cruisers” flog us. Mate’s Turbo-Diesel Cruiser is a fantastic bushbasher, and pretty civilised on the road. Hilux is not. It is a tradies work hack and nothing more.

I do appreciate certain Toyota’s, but you hate anything blue oval or red lion.
