Comments on: Holden VE Commodore recalled again

I have a VE S series commodore (auto) I have taken this car back a number of times
The gear box blew up after a couple months & replaced
the computer in the dash a number of times kept beeping & saying ABS /Stability control/take to dealer. When I get there they say nothing wrong, in the end they say they updated the computers.
I have had the car battery fail then when I got it charged again the car wouldn’t drive kept cutting out. They said it was a dirty filter they charged me for that but this only happened after battery went flat & I don’t know why that went flat didn’t seem to be a reason.
Then I went to a shopping centre when I left the car park the car started crabbing up the road going sideways, when I took it to Holden they told me this was a shredded tyre rod end & could have happened by someone just bumping my tyre in the car park. Then they told me they don’t use the same tyre rod end they use a different brand (why if the original brand was ok ) so of coarse I had to pay for the 2 tyre rod end to be relaced so the car would not be lop sided ( $1250)
I told them to keep the tyre rod end that I wanted it, they lost it & then told me it wasn’t shredded it was bent like a banana. This car is my worst nightmare When I told the service centre all the problems he said ” Well it is a VE”
how can I find out about these tyre rod ends if the first brand was faulty.my car is out of warrenty I am on 120.000

Hi I am thinking of buying a 60th annaversary ve omega or a SV6. Do this years VE’s have the same problems as the earlier models or have they been fixed.

Let’s face it, no car is perfect. One will always have a defect on it. The issue here now is the consistency of defects. The Japs would have a handful of bad apples in the barrel, which is acceptable, but it seems that Holden has a lot of them all the time.

But why should they care? Australia, unfortunately, made the Commodore last month’s bestseller again.

Over the past few years holden has had the most recalls of any manufacturer-eg my last count was holden 68 to fords 26.
Certain areas of the media seem to think it is acceptable, but its not.

This is true…at ihatemycar.com.au plenty of people gave opinions on cars made in Japan and not all positive…so recalls means nothing as even best cars can get recalled for any reason.

oh yes OZ, those were the same old days where i was called a liar for quoting TP as saying “toyotas have bullet proof reliability”, even though i found those exact words from Paul and linked them

Same here Andrew.M. Suits me down to the ground. I loved my Cortina’s when I was young, always wanted a larger car tho.
