2009 BMW PAS spy images & CGI

January 3, 2008 by Alborz Fallah

With the Volkswagen group expanding its model lineup considerably, it’s no wonder German rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz are following suit.

Last year BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer said his company will create a new segment and introduce its own interpretation of the humble sedan, meet the BMW Progressive Activity Sedan or PAS in short.

Our computer graphic artist has used the spy shots below to create this rendering of the PAS.

Unfortunately Mr Reithofer was unclear as to what exactly BMW plans to do with the PAS since it’s apparently not a sedan, nor a wagon, nor an SUV etc… The PAS will join the BMW X1 as part of the company’s new range of small life-style activity vehicles.

There are currently no confirmed release date for the PAS, but it should arrive in European showrooms early next year with Australian deliveries most likely to follow soon after.

“create a new segment and introduce its own interpretation of the humble sedan”

Also known as a hatchback, but because it has a BMW badge its something totally new!

  2. No Name says:

Dead right there Minnow. The profile has an uncanny resembalnce to Citroens C5….which is now out of date and going out of production. GM attempted a similar thing with its hopeless Vauxhall Signum and failed.

They are trying to reinventing the wheel methinks!

  3. Frugal One says:

These guys, BMW, should do a van.I would buy one if they do it right [Bagle NOT to design it! :-)]

Why let Benz, FIAT, Renault and VW make all the money in commercials?

    Cheers

  5. Oz. says:

The red CGI looks like a Subaru at the back.

  6. o says:

that iss a foul Cgi i saw one in wheels a while back and it was awsome that cgi here is a 3 series cuope nose ugly

  7. Joe says:

This is disgusting, it’s watering down the brand, and looks like the kia rio. BMW should’ve spent their money on a new m6.

  8. h0t fuzz says:

That is one ugly looking thing! it looks like a cross between a bmw 1 series and a suburu wrx. That car looks like it’ll give u genital herpes… yuk!

  9. Jack says:

Looks Subaru-ish, agreed. Then again I thought the new Impreza had ‘BMW-ed’ itself a bit. I like the flame surfacing, concaves and curves myself.

The rear quarter view mimics the proportions of a 1980’s Corolla Seca… bit of a worry.
