HUMMER H3

We said in our review of the Hummer H3 that it can really do with a little more power, but by a little more we meant maybe a 5.0-litre V8 or even a V6. But being American, General Motors has decided to fit a H3 with a 7.0-litre V8 from the Corvette Z06.

Dubbed the Hummer H3R concept, the car is expected at the Detriot Motor Show early next year (and we will be there). There is no official word on whether or not the concept will see the production line, but smaller V8 versions of the H3 are already available in the US.

The 376kW 7.0-litre V8 will more than double the power output of the standard five-cylinder 180kW H3. The H3R also receives minor exterior modifications such as the bonnet scoop to show-off its  credentials.

In the meantime, we can expect the 220kW 5.3-litre V8 H3 Alpha to find its way to Australia next year.

Hmmm… Whether or not it is a real concern or not, it is vehicles like these that will bring about a ‘Tosser Tax’ for people who buy 4WDs fro use in the city.

Is anything happening about removing the commercial vehicle designation that most 4WDs are sold under? It makes them exempt from certain emissions and safety requirements.

  • Duck

It is defintly not for the city!

And i would like to know it’s weight and 0-100km time.

  • Andrew M

duck i doubt you would want to know it would scare you.

    Super,
tosser tax?? ha ha ha ha ha
yeah id vote for that. and plenty of other poor driver taxes

WOW that was a big jump….from a Prius Blog to a Hummer!

Anyone noticed that car parking spots are getting smaller…..Lucky to get a Falcon or a Commodore in the ones you can reverse into anymore, where and how do you park these big 4×4 in built up areas?

  • Oz.

BMw, One tip, you don’t drive big cars into city car parks!!! How do I know, The F-250!

This Hummer H3 is not too bad, but if it’s an H2 or an American Truck…Don’t even think about paring in built up areas in the middle of the day just wait untill the late hours.

    If it’s a city, never bother..enough said

  • Duck

HUMMER should make a compact 4wd

  • Bavarian Missile

I know my best friend drives a dual cab F250 {2003}when she comes down from the Goldfields she has to take up 4 car parking spaces in major S/Cs.

  • Reckless1

BM, most of your posts show a degree of intelligence, but then you go and spoil it with this comment on an H3 blog “where and how do you park these big 4×4 in built up areas?”

For the 1000th time, the H3 is NOT a big 4×4, it’s smaller than a Territory. It has good turning circle (needed for off-road), it’s square and hence a piece of pi$$ for a real driver to park.

Whereas the F250 has the turning circle of a Jumbo jet.

Most of the w@nkers who want to ban 4wds from the city are nevertheless quite happy to allow any amount of white vans and delivery trucks to scrape their way around town to deliver their carbohydrate rich foods and big TVs.

Now there’s a thought, let’s ban big TVs instead, it would make equal sense (none).

  • Bavarian Missile

Hey Reckless I know that already, as I pointed out even a Falcon cant fit so in to most reverse parks these days!

I am against big vehicles in the city too……..I have been wiped out by a tampon truck already in a car parking spot in Perth! Have the front spoiler to prove it still…..

Try taking a land cruiser through drive through these days!It doesn’t fit!

Now Im not saying we should ban big cars but it seems the Governments wish we would keep them at home……..ever tried to park a 17 foot XA Coupe??? It wouldn’t fit where I live!

  • No Name

With my green hat on I say this Hummer is too big for anywhere but the Country and who really wants the fuel bill to go with it? I know you Aussies don’t as your finding the fuel price already too high. Bear in mind in Euroland the fuel is about £2.55/litre which still doesn’t stop the fuel guzzlers too much.

    Love live the V8

  • arsenalroc

in a big manly voice ” THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! ” :P

i love these kinda cars… i hate douche bags enviromentalist and such… we know we have to do something about it… protesting aint gonna stop shit!

If you can Drive a Hummer of a Landcruiser in the Cities, there is something wrong with you. I drive both and have no problems parking. Get a life and get your Hybrids and 4Cyl Pieces of crap to the junk yard and Get a REAL CAR. Hummers and other 4WD’s S**T all over little cars and could drive over them too.
