Infamous Vampire Dragster for sale on eBay

December 26, 2007 by Karl Peskett

Yes, you know the one. The one which nearly killed Richard Hammond. The one which featured on Top Gear, and had the entire globe talking for weeks on end.

Well, now it seems you can buy it. If you live in the UK that is. Yes the Vampire Dragster is up for sale, being auctioned on the British eBay site. There are four days left to go, so if you’re keen, you’d better get to it.

A brief description shows that all is not well, however.

The chassis is bent, the historic afterburning Rolls-Royce Orpheus turbojet engine might run again (there is a comprehensive spare parts inventory to go with the car, including a new jetpipe), and just about every component on the car is damaged in some way. The rollcage was removed by someone post-crash and has not been returned to us. But this is the only key component which is absent from the car, everything else is there exactly as it was last used.

The reason it’s up for sale?

Shortly after the car was wrecked he suffered a near-fatal heart failure and now needs to raise whatever funds he can by selling everything off.
