2012 Ford Focus Global Test Drive giveaway using Facebook

By Brett Davis |

Ford is giving away chances to test drive the upcoming 2012 Ford Focus prior to its release in 2011, via its Facebook fan page. The Global Test Drive giveaway will also contribute up to $10,000 to a charitable cause on the winner’s behalf.

Everyone can enter the competition, so long as you have a driver’s licence of course. Ford is asking for entrants to submit a video file through the Ford Focus Facebook page, of them outlining why they should be one of the first people to the drive the car.

Just 100 entrants will be selected for the drive giveaways, which will operate somewhere in southern Europe. Further details of the location will be revealed next month but Ford has said it will pay for all flights and accommodation to and from the drive.

Winners will be selected according to the entrant’s creativity, level of social networking skills as well as how many votes they receive.

Smaller version of the Mondeo. The Focus & Fiesta & Falcon are Ford Australia main area of concern Mondeo, eh do we sell that!

does this model still use the same C1 chassis as the Mazda 3 and volvo hatch, or is it a different one?

    • tw

No, it uses the new Gloabl C segment platform which has only been used on the 2010 Cmax and this 2011 Focus.

Smrat. Soft lines and well rounded. Its not to agressive but still makes a bold statment. I love the front bumper assembly. It might not be exciting enough for the Gen y’s. I think Gen X and above will be drawn to it.

I’m so sick of these tight as companies giving away a “TEST DRIVE” seriously! Give the car away or don’t advertise. I find it hard to believe that a multi billion dollar company can’t give away a $25,000 car.

They are giving away far more than $25,000.
100 sets of flights, transport and accomodation would total to far more than $25,000.

On another note, I see this as a bit of a leaf out of the QLD tourism book that worked a treat.

Put up 100 people with a free holiday and trial of the product, then get them to facebook all their friends about it. One hell of a way to get the Focus name out there. People believe anything people Face Book about, so its a great way to spread product awareness.

I will say one thing about face book, even though I think its ridiculous on a personal level, the way the corporate world uses it in instances such as this is quite smart

They are, but not to the winners individually. What do they get, maybe 2K for a flight and $200-$500 for accommodation. You basically come back with nothing, and they have a video of you that they can use for whatever they like.
