Roding Roadster 23 spied on the Nurburgring

Here's something a little different, and a little ugly. It's known as the Roding Roadster and it is a concept developed by a small German company who will put the car, looking pretty much like this one, into production.

It features a 3.0-litre straight six engine. Supported by a turbocharger, it's said to output a very reasonable 225kW of power and over 400Nm of torque.

The body is made from carbon fibre which means this thing is light. The Roding website says it tips the scales at 920kg when empty.

Out on the road, or track, the Roding Roadster is said to do the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 280km/h. It'll also use an average of just 11.1L of fuel per 100km. And it passes Euro 5 emissions regulations.

It all sounds pretty good. The only downshot is Roding will only make 23 of them. All of which can be road registered, mind you.

The other downshot of course is those looks. Obviously an acquired taste with a face only a mother could love. Orders are currently underway with deliveries expected to take place in June 2011.
