Roding Roadster 23 spied on the Nurburgring

Here’s something a little different, and a little ugly. It’s known as the Roding Roadster and it is a concept developed by a small German company who will put the car, looking pretty much like this one, into production.

It features a 3.0-litre straight six engine. Supported by a turbocharger, it’s said to output a very reasonable 225kW of power and over 400Nm of torque.

The body is made from carbon fibre which means this thing is light. The Roding website says it tips the scales at 920kg when empty.

Out on the road, or track, the Roding Roadster is said to do the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 280km/h. It’ll also use an average of just 11.1L of fuel per 100km. And it passes Euro 5 emissions regulations.

It all sounds pretty good. The only downshot is Roding will only make 23 of them. All of which can be road registered, mind you.

The other downshot of course is those looks. Obviously an acquired taste with a face only a mother could love. Orders are currently underway with deliveries expected to take place in June 2011.

    Ugly, comes to mind!

Looks like it is based on a Nissan Exa and a George Forman grill. Certainly seems the driver would have to be quite lean, just to fit in. But with 0 – 100k’s delt with in under 4 seconds i doubt anyone will have enough time to judge it on looks. It might make you feel like eating a grilled cheese sandwich…….and you wont know why.

This thing looks like a stripped down, MUCH uglier version of an Audi R8 also looking at the stats of the engine, looks like its straight from the BMW parts bin..Im sure it would go very well though!

    Fiat X/19 anyone?

  • Shak

    Lego anyone?

    11.1l/100km? That’s rubbish!

990kg is not that light for a full carbon fibre car of this size.

Oh and it’s fugly as sin.

Throw up in your coffee anyone? Seriously, it begs just one question – why?

Guess what got slapped then droped on it’s head at birth..……

Subaru will be hiring this companies design team to create the styling for their future models, I’m sure.
