Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione catches fire

Another supercar has recently joined the spontaneous combustion club it seems, and, without meaning to dis the marque, it's about time it showed its true spirit. Here we see an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione that has just signed up, wearing plenty of ash, carbon and some bodywork.

Apparently the fire was due to an electric problem - a common phrase in the world of Italian cars - when a short-circuit near the battery occurred, sending sparks to surrounding materials. The poor car was then engulfed in flames and burnt crispier than a deep-fried potato chip in no time.

It's the first report we've heard of an Alfa 8C suffering from such problems so no recall matters are currently stirring. It's a shame though that one of these beautiful coupes is now gone because now there's only 499 of them left on the planet.
